Detroit always has urban issues.. but I don't like the recent developments either.

First off, Gentrification is on steroids right now.. black people are getting displaced like it's South Africa.

White people have taken over entire sections of the city.

The Fireworks were off the hook. I'm 28 and have never saw anything like that. Why? Now that this cac shyt is taking place you have to have 3 grand finales, singing competitions, arresting hundreds of teenagers, and putting ever cop in the world on site, n shyt like that? So we could do this when I took my lil cousin to the fireworks years ago and bullets and fights broke out?

City Counsel members are dropping and quitting left and right. Even the good ones are resigning. The head of the CC went on sick leave and the Guy that the state sent in says "you can't be sick, get ur ass back to work next day nikka or resign:jawalrus:"

Everything and every change that people have wanted and lobbied for were denied since I've been alive... and now all of a sudden there are funds, resources, and motivations to fix everything all in a few years

Despite what you think about the changes, no matter how it happens, Detroit is a city that deserves to be saved. It's one of the centers for America's culture, it saved the country back during the civil war (arguably), it saved the entire world twice with its vaunted manufacturing capabilities during World Wars I and II, and everyone I've met from there has honestly been just plain cool to be around. I actually hope to visit one day. Detroit firing on all cylinders and being restored to its former glory would make me really happy to see.

I guess a city is less desirable for saving when it looks black.:upsetfavre:

Advertisements about living, working, playing here don't even contain black people. Detroit made the middle class, and black people here helped that happen.

I'm almost like fukk it... just fukk these hispter white bytches who feel so cool being in the core city, eat good off once undesirable property I own, and watch the masses of black people get dealt w with no lube.

Idk why in my head I thought that stood for cac committee :skip:

But in all seriousness, I don't think there is anything wrong with gentrification, but I just don't like when its done in order to get rid of the residents that's been there and replace them with the young white hipster crowd (which is all the time).

Yes Detroit needs fixing but when city council members start leaving they know something is about to go down. Expect it in the news.

It's a shame what it's came to, I wonder how long it will take for them to completely change it.
