All the interactions between a pet owner and a pet have parallels with slavemaster and slaves.

Pet owners might not beat the shyt out of their pets to keep them in line (though some do). But the relationship is otherwise the same.

my dog is 4 yrs old n every time i even go near the leash she's like every time. without fail.

You feed it, you wash it, you gotta handle its shyt, its a total money sink. Not like its a kid where eventually that kid will grow up and be self sufficient(hopefully). That thing is gonna be dependent on you from cradle to the grave. The most you play with it is 10-20 mins a day, tops.

So why do ppl bother?

Depends.
Some people use it as a friend. Some people use it as a way to teach their kids to learn responsibility.
Others have issues in life where they are complete failures/losers and use the idea of raising a pet as a way of showing people they are successful at something. It's very easy to raise a pet, but they make it like they raised an animal form of Gandhi or something. "Look at what I did. I'm not a failure. Hooray for me!"
Others, like the cat lady, have a complete disconnect with reality and think that taking care of multiple pets is their way of improving the world "Look at what I did. I'm not a failure. " These animals have a happy life. However, they aren't able to hold a steady job and haven't had a real boyfriend in over 10 years because no sane man would ever date them and their stupidness. Their minds are so twisted that they they adopt more animals than they can care for. Usually, that owner will die and the animals will be forced to eat the dead human flesh to try and survive.
