There's a difference between having a lizard or fish/other reptiles and taking care of a warm blooded mammal which requires more work IMO.

Nah, kids aren't comparable. At the simplest base of it you need children to continue the human race (and your own legacy).

We arent obligated to continue the human race. That is just a biological impulse, as is the hunter-gatherer/pack relationship formed by humans and dogs. Obviously a kid is not comparable to a dog but having kids makes no more sense than having pets.
People that work all the time and leave the dogs alone all day probably shouldn't have one. I work from home most of the week so my puppy isn't alone most of the time.
She WAS my girls dog, but since I'm the one that's home all the time throughout the week she started bonding with me more.
Dogs are cool, loyalty on their end and teaches you responsibility. MOST should have a dog before a child as it will help prepare them for the next 18-23 years with a child.

They are fragile... Just make sure you feed them natural food or learn how to cook so that you can just fix them a healthy plate when you eat. All that dry food is mostly shyt for them.I like animals, but I'm terrified to own one....My thing is....They'll die way sooner than me if I'm lucky.....,,,,I don't know why I'd put myself thru that....
Exercise, diet, and regular $25 checkups and you will be fine. Anywhere from 15-20 years.
