They are saying on Twitter it may be Quinten Tarantino

:ohhh:

I want you to look long and hard at the face above. Is this one of the most recognisable directors in recent times, glancing at a camera with an expression universally reserved for when an elderly relative has an accident during Christmas dinner? Or is it the heedless visage of a man who just dropped millions on some fresh Wu? You tell me.

Back in August, we joked about how, err, nobody has bought that $5million Wu Tang Clan album yet, as the debacle surrounding this one of a kind cultural artifact rolled on. The record,Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, comes in an engraved silver and nickel box, with leather-bound liner notes, and features the entire Clan, Cher, the Barcelona football team, and other novelty rich people. The whole idea behind it was that by creating something so absurdly luxurious and inaccessible to the normal person, this album would single handedly restore value in music in the 21st century. Funny right? No, funnier, because as Forbes reported last night, someone has actually gone and bought it.

The album was finally been sold via Paddle 8 auction house, who have previously sold works by Jeff Koons (a man who turns the "everyday" into the "artistic" to the extent that it is possible to mistake an art gallery's own fire extinguisher for one of his pieces on display) and Damien Hirst (a man who killed 9,000 butterflies for an exhibition for people who have lived in cities so long they don't remember what forests are), but the buyer remains anonymous. However, we are pretty damn confident we know exactly who bought it. It was Quentin Tarantino. It was totally Quentin Tarantino. Here's all the reasons that have led us to believe it was Quentin Tarantino.

QUENTIN TARANTINO IS AN AMERICAN PERSON WITH MILLIONS OF MONEYS

As reported by Forbes, the new owner of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin is an American person who could afford to spend millions of moneys.

QUENTIN TARANTINO IS A MASSIVE WU TANG FAN

Tarantino loves the Wu Tang Clan. He's obsessed with the Kung Fu themes in their music, and enlisted RZA to score the soundtrack to Kill Bill. He also helped RZA make his directorial debut with The Man With the Iron Fists, and starred in it. I mean, here he is wearing the Wu Wear cut off tee like it's normal for anyone to wear a cut off tee unless you're going to a Halloween party as Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This is true fan stuff. And here he is with some members of the Clan, sporting a fringe that says "I make very impulsive purchases based on my passions in life".

QUENTIN TARANTINO LIKES TO MAKE VERY IMPULSIVE PURCHASES BASED ON HIS PASSIONS IN LIFE

He saved a movie theater in LA from redevelopment in 2007, left the family that ran it in charge and gave this inspirational quote to the press: "As long as I'm alive, and as long as I'm rich, the New Beverly will be there, showing double features in 35mm." As of 2014, Tarantino took over the programming himself, and now they just show what he wants.

QUENTIN TARANTINO ALSO HAS WEIRD AXES TO GRIND ABOUT HOW THE DIGITAL ERA HAS DEVALUED PHYSICAL COMMODITIES

“I am not excited about streaming at all,” Tarantino said in a piece by IndieWire. “I like something hard and tangible in my hand. And I can’t watch a movie on a laptop. I don’t use Netflix at all. I don’t have any sort of delivery system.” Sounds like the kinda guy that prefers his music albums in engraved nickel boxes crafted in Moroccan mountains to me.

AND IF YOU NEEDED ANYMORE EVIDENCE, THEN PEOPLE ARE TWEETING ABOUT IT

People only tweet truth things. It's illegal to tweet false things.

I rest my case.

let me try to clear a few things up

first off.... it cannot be SOLD FOR PROFIT for 88 years... the guy can GIVE IT AWAY right this second if he wants to

he can also choose to NEVER sell it

and another thing about this, is the box... which is custom and hand done by some super famous guy.... so that goes into the price too... like that louis 14th drink is so expensive cause of the crystal bottle and not the liquor

another thing.... you don't get shyt off albums unless you got the paperwork

meth don't get a check off what biggie sold.... he got money up front for the record, did the record, and signed the ownership to bad boy... so he gets publishing and writing credit... but you don't get residuals like it's some tv show and shyt..... every million sales you get another check and shyt..... nah

now if i ask jay to be on my album.... he can request points (percents) on my album in exchange... that's something you do for big nikkas... cause they can actually make my shyt sale more than i can...

anyways... everyone on that album would have had to sign contracts... on those contracts it would state where these vocals are going, for what album, etc etc etc.... that way you can't use my 1 vocal set, to put out 15 albums wit the same verse.... you have to specify

problem goes back to..... what if he named this "civilringz presents..........." on the contract.... well he can give it away free, sell it for 9.99 or sell it for 15 million...

you got paid already.. you signed over the rights... it's not your album... so you don't get to dictate what i sell it for and what my profit margin is... you got paid already... goodbye

now why am i so harsh on wu for this... THEY ALL OWNED WU-TANG AS A NAME!!!

and at some point they all said fukk rza... and asked out their deals with him.... and he said ok i got you, but wu-tang is mine in exchange.... AND THEY fukkING SIGNED IT

you can't boo hoo for nikkas who will sign anything... and say fukk the shyt they already signed... then get mad when they hustled themselves out of millions...

same shyt lox did... sign fukked up deal... cry about it and beg out... get out in exchange for publishing.... then cry about losing publishing

nikka you making these deals.... it's your own damn fault... who in their right mind would say fukk the rights to the wu tang name

I agree with 90% of what you're saying but the contract/points part doesn't really apply to this.

Cilvaringz is in Morocco, it was never anything as official as "let's have our lawyers meet and look over the paperwork". Dude asked them for verses, they gave them to him and forgot about it.

You might think that's a dumb move but #1 Cilvaringz is a nobody. Half the thread is Wu fans and they still had no idea who he was. And #2 most of them gave him verses for his last album and it sold like 5 copies.

So it's not as if they had a reason to charge him points, or a lot of money for the verses.

The problems arose when RZA aligned himself with Cilvaringz and legitimized this project as an "official" Wu-Tang album. Suddenly Cilvaringz isn't just a nobody, he's getting interviewed by Forbes. Suddenly this ain't a random ass project, it's "art" co-created by Cilvaringz and the founder of The Wu-Tang Clan.

Which is why the rest of the members are pissed off. A lot of it is about money, but it's also about RZA running off with a Z-tier Wu affiliate and recording a Wu album with no feedback from the rest of them.

Fred.

The heads who participated got paid..they were told its for a project..
They are pissed as this guy is claiming or attempting to throw his name as part of the wu tang brand.

Only a few are standing by this dude..rza, rae, ghost and few others.
Meth said he didn't know it was for a Wu album. I'd he was just doing verses for an affiliate (Ringz) I doubt he was paid at the time. So the question becomes will he see any of the money they made off selling this. I bet no but we will find out really soon.

If the price of the sale is revealed and it is some nice sum..expect heads start calling at rza..and obviously cilvacilva knew and predicted this shyt..
