Wait, I just read that WWE had Cuatrero there on camera for the announcement? They brought in for the announcement the guy that tried to kill Stephanie Vaquer??![]()

Fightful says Del Rio working with WWE is potentially back on the books after it being a non-starter for yearsCrazy news. I wonder how this effects Del Rio. Does he get the boot. Also, Cuatrero was released from prison a couple of weeks ago. He was locked up for 2 years without a trial. He was supposed to be released like 6 months ago but the judge was "on vacation" and "couldn't do anything about it". He's still gonna have a trial. Him and his brother did a podcast with a team of lawyers to talk about the situation and have always maintained innocence.
Fans have been shytting on AAA for the past year in a half. Wrestlers talked about how AAA wasn't paying them shyt and Konnan was screwing them over. I'd like to see WWE create a performance center just to get La Hiedra back into pre covid shape. Hopefully Sexy Star 2 comes back as well.
Fightful reached out to talent who said that there have been conversations about AAA having new partners, equipment and the like for years. However, once the WWE-TKO merger happened, there was a lot of discussion about that partnership being with WWE. There had been conversations between the two sides for quite some time.
Those that we spoke to in WWE said that while the acquisition itself was close to the vest, they believe it was finalized after AEW and CMLL announced their Arena Mexico show.
For those asking about the relationship between WWE and top champion Alberto Del Rio, for years WWE had given everyone a "hard no" on working with Del Rio. Del Rio himself would claim that conversations had taken place, but at points said he would "never" work for WWE again. Those close to Del Rio claim that he's said different, and that the two sides had discussed possible appearances, and that it was no longer "contentious."
Some talent in AAA were even skeptical of the announcement, saying that it's hard for them to believe that the Roldan family would relinquish all power. Details of the acquisition are still few and far between.

They might be streaming in the US under that name one day or something but the name AAA is way too valuable to change to NXT. That would be a fool's errand imoHow long until AAA is rebranded as NXT Mexico or NXT Lucha Libre?
And CMLL basically owns all or nearly all the arenas they run in from what I gather, including the Mecca of Lucha Libre in Arena Mexico. So WWE isn’t going to be able to ice them out with exclusivity clauses like they do with some arenas in the US. And obviously CMLL isn’t going to rent their arenas to WWE, that AEW show coming up in June will be the first time an American promotion has ever rented Arena Mexico, for example. Most of the top lucha talent is in CMLL so I don't see how it monopolizes the Mexican scene
