Xbox One controller update bricked my controller..

my question is does Target check controller serial numbers? I bought a new controller the other day and I was thinking of putting it in the new box and trading it in since its still within the return policy.

The console bricked my controller. U can update ur controller on Xbox one and when I tried to update the controller stopped working. Won't even cut on.

So what do I say to them? I go up to customer service and say it's not working? The new one has the 3.5 mm jack. The one that came with the Xbox doesn't. So I'm hoping they don't notice.

Yea alotta people have the issue. They gave me the info to send it back so they can ship me a new one. I just don't feel like waiting. Lol. Or paying for shipping. Plus if I do the Target swap I get a 3.5mm updated controller.
