It's a way to get local channels on your Xbox One without cable/satellite
You need an antennae and a TV tuner to do it. I thought it was something more at first, but it's basically a way to plug in your antennae into your Xbox One
But you can do that with your TV? If you have an HDTV you have a built in OTA Tuner....I don't understand.
With your regular TV you'd have to switch inputs. And You'd have to use multiple remotes.
On top of that there's added functionality that's not available on your TV like a customizable guide and voice controls.

what about people without Kinect? So, they should spend almost $200 dollar to watch local TV?
That would be up to them. I never said what people "should" buy.
But if having an all in one entertainment experience is what a person wants, the X1 plus the TV tuner is an appealing product.
And you only need the kinect for voice controls, all the other functionality is still available without it

While true, MS will never surpass apple or Android. That hurts from the jump. They also are not an electronics company. And they also don't have tv/movie arm of business that Sony has.
The only real ecosystems that matter are Android and Apple.
I'm not gonna completely shyt on the product, but how many people will truly buy or use it?
The overwhelming majority of people still have cable or satellite. The cord cutters are on the streaming/xbmc wave. So it's going to be an extremely niche product.

but the ecosystem? windows is still royalty in the OS department, and its about to become a living breathing OS thats with people all the time. the exact same thing apple and android have been trying to do for the last 2, 3, 4 years. MS is quickly realizing it right now.
notice i didnt even mention sony because they currently cant do it without windows or android.

You're right, Sony is using Android because it's Apple (can't use) or Droid. There is no 3rd player...no matter how much MS wants to be.
Breh, the writing is on the wall....tablets and phones are becoming more and more the standard. Windows is royalty in the OS Deparment on laptops and desktops not doubt....not phones/tablet whose market is increasing more and more every day because those are what people are using more and more on a daily basis.
You don't think an android OS for laptops and desktops is on the way? Companies are looking for every reason to cut costs and a free OS like that which people are already accustomed to from their phones would make an extremely easy transition.
