Sony Playstation 2 Problems | Techdirt
Apparently there have been a problems with the new PlayStation 2 which is causing some concern for Sony investors. This comes at the same time that Microsoft has made it official that they are creating a competing gaming platform.
That was from the year 2000. As you can see, even sony's INVESTORS were concerned about it. Sony's offical public stance? THERE IS NO D.R.E PROBLEMS, its just in your head :patrice:
6yrs later?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2#Disc_Read_Error_.28DRE.29_Lawsuit
A class action lawsuit was filed against Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. on July 16, 2002, in the Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo. The lawsuit addresses consumer reports of inappropriate "no disc error" (disc read error) messages and other problems associated with playing DVDs and CDs on the PlayStation 2.

Sony settled its "disc read error" lawsuit by compensating the affected gamers with USD $25, a free game from a specified list, and the reduced cost repair or replacement (at SCEA's discretion) of the damaged system. This settlement was subject to the courts' approval, and hearings began in the US and Canada on April 28, 2006, and May 11, 2006, respectively
So 6yrs later after you already bought new systems, moved on/etc. They say "Hey, we got $25 for you, a free game from a bootleg list, and we'll CHARGE YOU LESS TO REPAIR IT" :mindblown:
And back then, videogame systems wasn't costing as much as current and next gen systems. So warranties wasn't "expected" or even the norm for a console. Because of this, if you didn't get one from funcoland or wherever you got yours from? You'd be short. As in, you just paid $300 for a broken system. So many people was screwed out of there money because I worked in a videogame store at the time. Watched the systems pile up in the back, was told by the sony rep that sony knows of it and is not gonna speak about it which pissed him off. It rubbed me the wrong way too, so I got an xbox. Once my 4th PS2 died I was done. I did get a PS3 tho, Love Uncharted. Love Xbox more tho :manny:

At least they won't blatantly lie to you
