Y'all like what y'all like, I like what I like. I got fond memories of being introduced to Lil Yatchy by my younger cousin while we toured the city at night and tried acid for the 1st time. You probably got fond memories of being introduced to Nas, or 50 Cent, or Chamillionaire of something. Music is too subjective and personal to be worth arguing about.
What I will say is that as far as the generation gap goes, respect goes both ways. Hip hop legends and their fans have this certain smugness about them. Breh I don't even think its out of spite. These young dudes GENUINELY like this shyt. They've been conditioned too. The Artform known as hip-hop has become more and more ignorant as time goes on. What I mean by that is that the intelligence required in lyricism isn't needed anymore.
A song like this
would cause some of these younger dudes heads to explode from the intelligence displayed. All these younger cats need is a dope beat, catchy hook and an easy to follow Cat In the Hat type flow.
