shyt, the PS2 and PS3 Sony sold their consoles at a loss for most of their console lifespans due to competition. Now with no competition, they gonna jack it up to infinity.

Game development cost were cheaper back then so the business model allowed that. Development cost have skyrocketed and the hardware is now even more expensive to produce. I don't think they prefer this route but they're kinda stuck.
