Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
My background before my career was mostly security and by knowing the right people I was able to do security in all them luxury stores on 5th ave, wealthy people events on rooftops and lounges/clubs owned by big companies like FOX and hotels.

most I ever got paid was $20 but wearing a nice black suit and meeting and talking to rich folks was pretty cool.

last security gig was NYU which paid a starting salary of 31K with an automatic boost to 60K in 4 years.

worst security job ever dealing with the kids of rich parents who are mostly racist and privileged as fukk.

nikkaS LOVE TO DRESS UP THEIR ILL WILL AND HATRED AS PREDICTIONS AND LOGIC

YOU WANTING 6 CERT BREHS TO GO BROKE DOES NOT MEAN THATS WHATS GONNA HAPPEN
Yeah but life shows us A LOT of people who do well in their 20s/30s/40s can easily end up in debt and struggling due to other things like health issues, divorce, etc. And now you're the one people look at and shake their head feeling sorry for.

People feel like we are invincible due to our education and intelligence when you should just be positive, continue to work your ass off and stop judging other people all the time like you got it all figured out. All of us doing well with good health have some luck on our side whether we want to admit it or not.

Everything in life is designed to break peoples independent spirit from a young age to turn them into functioning cogs in a system that doesn't care about them but is only interested in propagating itself by slotting people into jobs they don't like in order to get the bio-survival tickets that life requires in order to take every little step.

Its a crooked game and the same goes for the ones making bank because a chain is a chain. Gold or iron doesn't matter, either one still keeps you locked in the frame.

It’s sad to watch because I’m not even sure they see themselves escaping that situation. Then the correlation between that level of work and other elements that are impacted by your social-economic. I couldn’t imagine not being able to see a way out of that situation and not trying to escape...

I know a few dudes from high school working at fast food joints and we're 40+

Some are managers, though. It's the only industry they know.
Ive seen that myself. I have a homeboy Ive tried to get into IT, he says its too hard, yet he works at mcdonalds and kfc and waffle house. He is just more comfortable in that environment. Its what be knows, so I dont hate

Recession coming. Supposed to be a bad one. This time it’s gonna he blamed on student debt, etc., and they’re gonna clean out alotta the cushy tech positions and send em to India and everywhere else they been sending them.
There’s a reason places like target and some fast food places are going to 15 an hr.

The reason I asked is because right now, i'm an IT Tech, but I'm studying software engineering on the side, with the goal of switching to that side in the next year or two.

But one question that keeps creeping into the back of my mind, as i'm getting deeper into it, is how long before the market gets saturated and these 6 figure gigs become 30k gigs.

Right now they're saying something like 70% of software engineering jobs is unfilled, and that market is going to be booming for the foreseeable future, but I'm not stupid.

Everything you need to know to become a software engineer is available for free online, all it takes is discipline, time, and a strong work ethic to get the skills, and I know millions of folks have switched to the same goal as mine.

Added to that is the fact that they are already trying to program robots to write code way quicker and more efficient than any human, so how long before that market becomes saturated and we start pricing each other out, fighting over crumbs.

Six figure jobs are more reserved for the senior guys in tech who have the work experience and the connections. But there is the argument of the guy who studied computer science at a good uni and he had done a placement year vs the self taught guy who lacks the experience. And you are most likely be get an entry position.Plus only studying software engineering can limit you.And even so you will still need to pick up other skills in order to compete for the 6 figure jobs.
The tech industry is still in its infancy stage. And the demand will continue to grow as companies and business will need workers who are qualified to handle tech related jobs. Now you have data, cyber security,a.i. and the list goes on.Growing non tech companies will need a tech department.

I don't think this about you

But I do feel sometimes that for every person humbled by their experiences at low income service/retail jobs....

There's like five motherfukkers who feel entitled to mistreat minimum wage employees on some "I did the job, I know how it works" bullshyt like they earned the right
I started out as a janitor. That was my first real job cuz I know I can't deal with people in customer service.

Having that job made it easy to want to do better. Everybody is different but I'm thankful for that experience because I wasn't driven at the time.

One thing I hate is people looking down on other people and treating them like shyt.

I'm about the easiest customer someone could have. I'm polite and know what I want. No need to be nasty. You are just a plain a$$hole if you do that.

I must admit I did have to be an ass a few times. Let's not act like there aren't some lazy mofos that don't want to go their job outchea wasting your time

Good that you’re thinking ahead. And even better that you’re able to make an honest and objective assessment, despite the fact that you’re in IT. Another poster said I was hating because I simply told the truth. Fact is we’re due for a major correction in the economy.

I wouldn’t say you’re in the wrong field, but you need to start preparing yourself for the changes that are coming. No different than journalists having to work around the changes in the media industry with newspapers damn near going extinct. Lotta of em didn’t believe it was coming and didn’t prepare even after all the warnings, other rolled right into what was happening online and have thrived.

Look into applying what you know into the transportation industry if you can, and I’m sure you can. It translates, and the transportation is one industry that I see that they’ve kinda left to Black people. Air, ground and rail.

Never know anyone’s situation. My position coach in high school used to deliver pizzas on the side. Tried to keep it a secret and work another side of town but a student who was living outside of our district had him deliver a pizza to his house which is how we found out. White man with a degree too.

I do some work for a Black owned transportation company now, and some of the people that have to come in there looking to drive for them are educated and have either lost good jobs or are looking for a second job.

Word up.... folks dont know about that struggle life. shyt was humbling. Learned a lot and it even made me not even give more of a fukk. Some of these cats have NO idea of how bad it can be. When you experience certain things, it builds character. You end up toughing up or going harder. That's why when I see certain folks on some ego, look at my degree, my job, look at me stunting wherever, I'm like stop. If you made it and you can give back like volunteering or putting folks on game or whatever so they dont have to deal with the same shyt you did, please do so.

I experienced it. I seen my parents experience it especially my mom and yo.... never give up. Let folks laugh or clown you.. you don't gotta be the cool guy or fit in. fukk all that because none of that matters. I try to tell some people but they dont get it.. I'm still in it but I'm better off compared to 10 years ago. Still got a long way to go and I'm going to make it. Let them laugh at you working at McDonalds or being a janitor. Just use that shyt to get to where you have to go. Cant be a boss without being a worker first

That California Lifestyle ...
I’m older now

but I progress throughout life

I was young and I worked at a grocery store, then worked at Dodger Stadium, then went to college and got a internship then ended up as a longshoreman making good money and after working too much and dealing with supervisors I bounced to doing insurance as a claims adjuster

but I never shyt on anyone doing a job, cause that can be me again in that position

but I do hate the few who shouldn’t even be doing retail or fast food service cause of they shytty attitude and laziness

What was so bad about being a longshoreman breh ? They cake up .

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
Ive come to realize not everyone has the potential to be a CEO brehs.

Some people are only comfortable with jobs that feel within their ability to do..
Some people lack the confidence to learn something new or different
Many people are afraid of failure
Some people have low emotional intelligence
Some people hate where they are in life but lack the belief and discipline to change it
Some people are glass half empty thinkers and its hard to accept responsibility for where they are

Honestly, their is a reason they call a 100 IQ the average...there are a lot of people who are just fairly average intellect and need to be guided by other people to better paying jobs or they will simply exist in the place they end up in.

I have always had an issue with being looked down on or not being 'high enough up' in my career as I aged. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but I was lucky enough to find my way into a career that i feel respected in and that provides for my family.....but that wasnt always the case.

I worked at a mini golf range in high school and was awful.

I worked weekends at Marshall's.

I bussed tables at a local chain restaurant..

I worked at Circuit City for years.
