When you break it nobody black really got bread like that ...

Only 5 percent of black FAMILIES have a net worth of 350k or more....

Thats aint nothing but a house worth owning being paid off (i said paid off deliberately cause folks be in yr 3 on a 50 yr mortgage talking bout owning shyt)....

or a lesser house with a pension...

Get it how you live cause it aint sweet for no one...even the folks that look like they got it like that aint got it like that...

I moved up later in life, actually had to go back but I always tell people

The best job to get when you don’t have an education is serving tables

Easy to move up

And at a good restaurant you can bank

I’ve made close to 75k a year doing it

50 on the low end

When I got laid off from my job as a manager

I didn’t think twice about doing anything else but that

Good now though

Still pondering school
you better than me
the psychological toll on working in the service industry dealing with people for 4-8 hours is hell on earth, and the fact you basically live off of tips AND possibly dealing with shytty people would make me go postal.

Depends on the area

I moved to the suburbs when I had my first kid and these people tip like crazy

You just fukkin do it

Be fake nice

All that bullshyt

Always tell my wife that’s why a lot of actors are servers Before they get put on

Not saying you gotta act like a butler but just do your thing

Be cordial, have conversations and your good

I had hella people requesting me and tip me like 50 percent

And I wouldn’t care if they died

Play the game

Make them think you’re a friend and you’re good

Yeah but life shows us A LOT of people who do well in their 20s/30s/40s can easily end up in debt and struggling due to other things like health issues, divorce, etc. And now you're the one people look at and shake their head feeling sorry for.

People feel like we are invincible due to our education and intelligence when you should just be positive, continue to work your ass off and stop judging other people all the time like you got it all figured out. All of us doing well with good health have some luck on our side whether we want to admit it or not.
NONE OF THIS HAS TO DO WITH WORKING IN TECH

NO MATTER WHERE YOU WORK.... STACK YOUR BREAD AND ALWAYS BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST

I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE CLEARED MILLIONS ANNUALLY WHO ARE DEAD BROKE

@CoryMack what jobs should we look for?

In Transportation? I couldn't tell you specifically if you're talking about shyt like IT. But the owner of my company contracts with a Black-owned IT company and they do all the wiring and troubleshooting in our office. And we're not all that big. I don't know what those jobs are called on shyt like Indeed.

And that's not going to change moving forward. Especially on the medical side. Uber has come into medical transportation so that'll be a whole other division that'll need tech savvy people because of the growing integration between technology and the day to day operations in these transportation companies. You'd be surprised at how behind the times alotta these companies are. Not only that, it seems that there are alotta opportunities to start your own company and if you're competent get up and running and profitable for relatively little money, again, especially on the medical side. I'm kinda looking into that now. And if you go into it with a background in tech I promise you'll have an advantage over a good part of the industry from what I've seen.

Now if you're talking jobs in transportation in general, you can look anywhere. I got potnas that are conductors for railroads, truck drivers turned truck owners, mgt at different companies, etc. In every city I've been in I've seen Black people in every position from the lowest entry position to sr management in the transportation industry. And I've worked at the airport here, a large paratransit company, and like I said I'm working with a Black owned NEMT company now.

Nah OP you are just one of those lazy cats that everyone has worked with.

I've worked low wage jobs and I still gave it my all regardless of whether or not I hated the work.

And after a while you get used to the job, the only downsides I've experienced were the physical toll they take on your body (heavy lifting, pushing and pulling 8+ hours a day) besides for the pay.

@tonyclifton I am unemployed right now but I used to work as a sales associate at Dollar General. Would you recommend someone working as a server if they have major social anxiety/self esteem issues and have a hard time with small talk??

Above the fray.
Walked in Dollar Tree and I could physically feel my soul leaving my body:damn: Couple employees was arguing and ole girl didn't give a damn about getting in trouble, like she was legit tired. And at the end of the day they go home smelling like grease or old people musk:wow: It be some nice looking ladies of some of those fast food joints too, probably waiting on a man to pick them up.

I know everybody circumstances ain't the same, but folks gotta do something. Sell drugs, play basketball, anything to leave that spot. I used to work at Walmart and boy I tell you the struggle was real, ya boy was hanging on by a thread.:wow: Y'all know how many times I clocked in 1 hour late or took 2 hour lunches. I used to carry the walkie with me so when i was chillin outside I could be on the listen out:mjgrin: This one old lady was sitting at the table sighed and randomly said "I'm gonna die here":mjlol:

For real though I be nice to all of them because I know the struggle.
No, everybody has to start from somewhere.
I'm from an immigrant family, and when relatives come here as adults.....these are the jobs they do. They go on to get training/formal education to improve their situations but no shame in honest work.
