I dont know how they do it breh... how the hell they survive off them checks :mjcry:

I could never go back to that lifestyle
It's a situation where they are either gonna lie on the welfare apps or they live with someone splitting expenses. Some of these folks are also staying in property that is in the family or was handed down to them and they don't have to pay rent/mortgages...or they aren't and they are on section 8. You'd be surprised at the people on section 8. shyt has a waiting list for a reason not for the hell of it. Developers build whole apartment complexes just to put folks on section 8. That's guaranteed problem free rent payments. Ultimate hustle. Especially in this era of rampant gentrification.

Some of these folks are pocketing more money than other folks and what you're hearing is their frustrations with that job not with their life in general.

And in all honesty the average person hates their jobs whether they make 11 an hour or 25. Most folks deep down would rather work for themselves. shyt's deep.

Especially when you see a customer going off on a fast food employee or waiter or some shyt. I be feeling terrible because I know they ain’t getting paid shyt to deal with that and they probably don’t have many other job opportunities so they’re stuck.

That’s why I try to be as courteous as possible to anybody in the service industry.

No i meant how as in how do they survive off that...edit: not the place
Oh. They're probably (most likely) living in government assisted apartments (or living with someone) and majority of minimal wage workers on average are eligible for food stamps, utility expenses etc.

Which is why some of them are comfortable living that way I guess:yeshrug:.

No, I respect their work ethic regardless. What's shameful is its harder to get a $7.50 an hour Part-Time job in 2019 than it was to get a $9.50-10 an hour Full-Time job w/benefits 15 years ago.

It's hard enough working 2 decent jobs trying to go against the grain with Mortgages/Rents/COL rising faster than most wages, but there is no way anyone can stay sane or make progress working multiple McDonald's/Burger King jobs making $7.25-$8 an hour.

I remember sorting through trash and recycling by hand for minimum wage.

I remember working my ass off at Target and getting a $0.06 raise at the end of the year.

Countless other shytty jobs.

I feel for people who still doing that. The single moms working two low-paying jobs just to get by. 16+ hours a day, every day

I think it really says a lot about someone, how you treat those in less fortunate positions, which is, of course, not a revelation, but I think in the ever increasing inequality gap, it is even more telling, today.

The more diverse life experience one has, the more empathy you gain, or that has been my experience. I have picked up trash at a baseball stadium for a living, served breakfast trays in jail, scrubbed bathroom floors in a halfway house, andI was just on Rodeo drive shopping at Gucci, so I could never look down on someone who is making a life for themselves the best way they can. We all have to.

I don't look down on them but I know the feeling. Years ago when I was in college I got fired from a call center job that was paying decent money. I had other job opportunities but they were 9-5 type of gigs so I wouldn't be able to take my classes. I settled on a security job making minimum wage. Going from making a decent living to making barely shyt was a humbling experience. That was long ago but whenever I get upset about my current career I have to remind myself it could be worse.

That's why I always treat people at these low wage jobs with respect and decency.

Yeah me too. I hate fools who try to dis low wage workers. I had that happen to me a couple times. All good though cus I'm working in an office now, but it's about time I move up.

all the more reason the minimum wages should be living wages of $15-$20

:mjpls:but I forgot where I am

Not gonna happen. Some of these businesses gotta satisfy their stock buyers. If you have stock in a company you have a say on what that company does. And if burger flippers make $20, what about Construction laborers?

These places could at least pay $13/hr

when I say I'm for wage/livable wage increases, I mean across the board.

nearly everybody is underpaid and overworked.
