If your comparing that to college and attending classes and taking test, yes they do.

I mean, I was speaking in the literal sense of a grade point average since black fraternities and sororities require you to maintain it above a certain level despite them not actually offering classes. They actually care about the academic success and career development of their members.

If your an active gang members you have to attend meetings, and will get tested, for example the GD's. One of my good friends in college was an active GD and pledge Phi Beta Sigma, and he talked about how you had to attend meeting (like class) learn and memorize the literature (study) and spit you lit (like a test) and if you failed you would get punished (just like how frats paddle) . That is just like a GPA in college.

Your friend is the figurative Tupac in the business suit. Does he participate in the charity events of both his gang and fraternity? I hope there aren't any conflicting interests there.

My friend's dad is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and he's also a judge. Having pledge brothers that are also gang members could spell trouble for him

No, they are the same.

As a person who was raised in the hood, around Bloods and also graduated from college, the frats are just the same as street gangs.

Frats get into fights with other frats, frats beef with other frats, frats perform hazing to join the frat, just like gangs jump people in, frats even kill frat members. On campus some frats can not hang in groups or associate with each other, just like how there are laws where gang members can not associate or hang in groups. Frats have colors, just like gangs and frats have hand signs just like gangs.

I know a couple frat members who are also gang members and they said the frats are just like their gangs. I have a couple blood homies who are Kappas and Ques. One of my homegirls is from 40 Crip and she is an AKA, I had another classmate who was from BH and she joined Deltas.
