Actually, black folks have higher rates of dying of skin cancer. Your skin may not burn, but the rays are still in contact with it.

Also in terms of exfoliation, your skin has a protective layer. When you exfoliate, you remove that layer making your skin easier to burn. Some folks don’t. I do.

To restore your layer after exfoliating or using a peel, I apply this:

Its key ingredient is Niacinamide, which is a form of Vitamin B3 that helps restore the top layer to your skin while also brightening hyper-pigmentation. I used to use the BHA/AHA 30% peel from The Ordinary, but I've opted to use a daily AHA formula with 10% potency, finding it more consistent.

It is a three step treatment. Physical exfoliate. Buffer product. Actual peel. It comes with a small pad to remove the final peel. The kit would come with 3-5 peels. I would stretch them a bit so one peel can last 3 different times. So I got 15 peels from one kit. The kit gives more product than you actually need so I didn’t see the point of putting more than needed on.

Peel pads are nice too.

The ordinary has a chemical peel. 8 bucks. It is at ulta, Sephora, and more. I love it. Very simple to use.

Wash your face with a soft gentle cleanser.
Air dry. Make sure your face is 100% dry.
Apply product. It is going to sting. If it burns, I take a q-tip and remove that area.
Wipe off with Luke warm water.
Do a face mask with serum.
Apply a thick moisturizer before bed.

1x a week.

Use sunscreen daily.

I don't haven't shaved my neck before. lol

But when I shave my legs, I use baby oil and shave over the baby oil. It keeps the skin moisturized.
