Y'all got any plans for leaving corporate America and the rat race?

Nah. I love my career. :win:

And if they decide they don't love my work, my severance package will finance a nice year off.

Very similar to @dj-method-x . I have one foot out of the door.

Long story short, I was hoping to take redundancy once the pandemic started. They were laying off so many people I was praying I was next. I’ve been at my company for so long, I knew my redundancy package would be :banderas:

They called me Into the office. I was there all giddy waiting to be let go. They told me instead they wanted to keep me on as I was a valuable member of the team.:aicmon:

The way my hopes were dashed within a minute. They offered me a huge wage increase, but I said only if I could work from home on a permanent basis. Somehow, they agreed.:leon:

Now I only work 2/3 days a week. They’ve essentially paid me extra from the employees they laid off. Quitting makes no sense as I can now focus on my other businesses (mainly real estate). If I quit now, I’d lose a lot of benefits. Plus, I get paid to sit on my ass most of the work day.

I’m still hoping they make me redundant at this point. So we’ll see.

You have to know what you’re doing. Too many folks are leaving the workforce trying this and failing. I have my photography/videography thing going on the side hoping to leave my job and do it full time one day. I’m not in a rush though.

I have a work from home job right now. But I have a digital marketing business that I'm going to relaunch next month. Now that my funds are decent again I can pay for the tools/software I need and I can start marketing my business aggressively

I’m not really in the corporate race so to speak. I work as a chemical engineer in a small family run firm. The owner and his two sons are in charge and the total employee number is about 85. I’m in management, I’m on good terms with the owner and because it’s such a small company it’s much easier to move up. Not to mention because the owner works directly with the workers he’s more likely to promote people who are actually good at their job because it’s his money. The pay is also pretty good.

I kinda feel sorry for brehs in large corporate companies dominated by these white boys and their little cliq. I’ve worked in these companies before and I saw how so many black men had been there for years and barely moved up whilst these young white biys fresh from college got accepted into the clique and were moved up straightway. It’s one of the reasons why I left. I was always angry at what was going on and I wasn’t going to be one of them old black men stuck on the same level for decades.
