There are a lot of cheap ways to travel. If she is traveling by herself, she could stay in hostels. You can also find people who are snowbirds or whatever who will let you housesit for free and may even pay you for doing it. If she's involved with some of those travel point forums, she can barter to get flights hotels, etc from businessmen who have more rewards than they could ever use.

That method of travel is but if seeing the world is all that matters to her, she might not care.

Or maybe she just joined one of traveling social sites. I know there was one couch surfing site that allowed you to host or request free lodging in different states and areas outside of the US

Depending on her job level she probably can. I knew a girl who had parents in the airline industry and she could fly standby for free on any flight with open seats.

Once you get into a groove of it, you can learn all sorts of ways to save money while traveling
