There won’t be any of that. It’ll be a nuclear wasteland with most of the posters including myself being dead. The survivors will be stragglers fighting for food, oil, and shelter. A lot of those people will be irradiated and die a slow and painful death in the following weeks. People will be envying the dead. That's basically my position as well. NATO has to walk a fine line in this conflict. On one hand, deter Russia (and China wrt Taiwan) from future invasions/act of sabotage, and on the other hand keep this conflict contained so it does not escalate into a full blown confrontation with Russia.

It's not an easy balancing act.

Ukraine wants to have us more committed to this war than what is reasonable.

It definitely is a balancing act and I fully expect the NATO/US to help Ukraine after this is over, but should formal NATO membership be extended to Ukraine or now an attack on "Russian territories" I fully expect this to become a game of who blinks first.

I think the only way out is if Putin's generals disregard any nuclear directives and someone merks him. Dude is becoming what's known as an "irrational actor". This is literally the "Prisoners Dilemma" with nuclear weapons.

US will never get invaded. They won’t make it past the navy in the first place. If they do reach out shorelines they will get gunned up and clapped quick with the swiftness. There’s a military base on every coast. They would have to send stealth missles or something to wipe us out. Canada won’t get invaded as long as they’re cool with the US, idk about Mexico though.

Well they did it and then the onus shifted to Ukraine to do what they could do if they could do it. And they succeeded in forging strong ties to the US and NATO countries and getting weapons galore sent so they could defend themselves and now they're looking to join NATO.

So does the same thing apply to them? If they can do it, they should do it?
