Y'all ready to admit that Jay really did take that L from the Rocafella Fallout?

Dame brought Cam and the dips, State Property, Twista and Kanye to the Roc.

Dame was the one who did the Armadale deal, started Rocawear, gave Kanye the greenlight for an album

but he broke up the Roc cause he felt the walls closing in on him? :beli:

Just in case anyone forgets, Jay accepted the buy out clause by Def Jam and that's how he became a free agent.

When they offered him Roc-a-Fella, he declined.

Jay is not obligated to stick with Dame the rest of his life. Only reason he looked so bad is he treated it like a power move and gave Dame the silent treatment.

Exactly! All jay had to do was be there and he would have been eating regardless as a part owner.

To all the Jay fans, when is Jay going to make another Roc? Miss me with Kanye, J Cole and Rhianna. Kayne was already in the picture and Dame put him there. J. Cole couldn't even get a release date up until Miguel saved him and "ri ri" aint even hip hop. Kanye, State Property, Just Blaze, ODB, Dipset etc. greater than J Cole and Rhianna. Jay took a L. :piss::scusthov:

He lost to me because let's say the Roc lasted. He would be getting his own money, part of the Dipset money, the Philly boys money, Kanye and whoever else they signed. I wouldn't give a damn if Cam was the VP or if Dame was making all of the decisions without consulting me. That's less work I got to do and as long as the work getting done I'm still getting paid from it. As long at the paperwork straight and I get a piece of everything then I'm good. Let Dame run the show, what the hell do I care?

What if he ruined the brand though?

From what I understand (through various interviews with many different parties involved) Dame wanted to stay independent and do their own stuff while Jay wanted to go corporate (The Fade in Black movie being an example. Dame wanted Lions Gate, Jay wanted whoever ended up producing that movie). Jay got bigger following the break up, had he stayed and did what you said here, then the Roc-A-Fella brand could have ended up falling apart and becoming a joke. I'm assuming Jay thought of that. You STILL know the Roc today because Jay made sure The Roc kept being a brand associated with greatness. If he let Dame run the show then The Roc would be in the same league as Dame Dash Music Group today...

We still know the Roc because of all the music that dropped before the break up, not anything after that.

There is no more Rocafella anymore, it's just a name.

Dame was the one who was attempting to branch out and make Rocafella more than just the label Jay-Z was on... He's the one who brought R&B singers into the fold, brought Cam and the Dips,State Property,Twista,ODB...Was the one who was doing the movies, the clothing line, the liquor branding.

it's like y'all forgot, Dame was the visionary/brains of the camp...and Jay was just the rapper.

"So I was like, let me get Reasonable Doubt and I’ll give up [the rest of] my masters. I’ll give up Roc-A-Fella Records, I’ll give up president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings—everything. Just give me my baby to hold on to so 10 years down the line, I can look back and I got something—I’m not empty-handed. And I was the one being offered everything. I thought it was more than fair... And when that was turned down, I had to make a choice. I’ll leave that for the people to say what choice they would’ve made. That’s about it. I don’t really wanna talk about Dame or Biggs. I don’t have nothing negative to say about them."

-- Jay-Z

That was like nearly 10 years ago, Jay's wealth has quadrupled in size since then. While he may be bitter about the principle of the whole Reasonable Doubt deal, he's certainly not hurting like Dame & Biggs.

Plus his new deal with Time Warner, as far as publishing goes, is going to be very lucrative for him. I don't see how he takes one L in this situation

So Jay Owns His Masters And This Thread Is A Fail......Sounds About Right

The masters to Reasonable doubt, are still jointly owned by him, Dame and Biggs....and him offering to give up everything for their shares of it what the thread is about.

ohhhhh i'll play along... but lets go with some facts..

DAME WAS GOING TO DO THE DEAL!! He said so himself in an interview a few years back. he was all for the deal, BIGGS was the one that was like "nah fukk that. we all worked hard on that, why should he only get it" and Dame sided with Biggs

Dash says

Jay decided to sever business ties with his fellow founders (Biggs and Dash) and their stake in the company was sold back to Island Def Jam for a reported $10 million.

Their controlling interests in the remaining clothing, film, and alcohol ventures were sliced up.
He offered the rights to the name "Roc-a-Fella" to Dash and Biggs in exchange for the recording masters to Reasonable Doubt, but the pair wouldn't make the deal.

We all earned those masters. The people that I was helping, once they realized their dreams, they did what a criminal would do. They stabbed you in the back. Think about the frustration of building a brand for years that should be taking care of your family, and then the person that was the closest to you saying, 'Nah, you can't have no parts of it,' and flushing it.

so the real question is........ does dame regret it.. his FIRST reaction was seeing the smart business move.. only after Biggs got in his ear did he decide to not do it on principal.

jay on the other hand said fukk it, take it all... on principal. and when they turned him down, he made the good business deal. what was he supposed to do?? def jam was sick of dame, they were trying to cut him out for years. you see how he acted yelling at people.. you seen on the movie how def jam was trying to wiggle in. why you think after all the success and money, they were willing to cut everyone else off with no problems.

jay coulda took that deal and said fukk y'all.. sold his shares of it all and been their boss at the same time. but he came to them and tried to work it out

is he hurt about it?? i gotta think when he looks back on all this shyt, hell yea it's gotta hurt. i know he plays cold hearted, but i really don't think anybody can. you built something, was broke together, got rich together, traveled, shared holidays, family... to have no words for your brothers and "familia" just years later... yea that shyt has got to hurt all 3 of them. jay included

but out of the 3... he damn sure ain't hurt the worse.. cause they sitting there broke, thinking, damn all this for reasonable doubt? at the same time when that bankrupcy case comes around, you do realize they make you auction off all your assets.. and that master is an assest.. and guess who got the money to buy it back??

imagine the hurt if he buys that back.. money, label, and the original item you didn't want to give up... damn might as well commit that :deadrose:
