Pro sports in general is arrogant (I said elitism, not elite), but there are degrees to everything, and the yankees exceeded that tolerable threshold a long time ago by lazily fielding an awful squad, w/o any regards to the quality of product, or plan for the future. Are you telling me that the championship squads of the 90s were arrogant and elitism fueled teams? Those teams were amazing from top to bottom.

Those 90s squads were largely built off a minor league system that couldn't be messed with because George was exiled. I'm more talking about how the organization operates. The team didn't have major stars on it, just players that literally did everything right. Those are once in a lifetime teams. Even then attendance was eerily similar to how it looked now. The attendance spike didn't truly begin until after the Dynasty.

As for the present, there's only so much the team can do to work around injuries, ineffectiveness and the albatross contracts that surround them
