LOL I'm far from naive. But I'm curious on why the Pope is saying this. Is it because they realize that their former teachings were wrong. Or is that its all a fraud at the end of the day and no matter what is in the bible, if you are a good person it doesn't matter. Its just a weird message from them. Further proof that religion is a fraud perpetrated on human kind in order to gain control on the social minds of human beings. There is no order...and people are starting to see that the church is not the key to salvation. Or is this a ploy to get others to start seeing the church in a new light in order to gain new converts?
It's simply him adapting to the current world.

I dislike Catholics as much ad the next guy but all I see from this message is him taking pressure of off those nonreligious who are still doing good things despite not being Christian.

What else in this message is anything other than him promoting those who do good deeds?

Pope Francis rocked some religious and atheist minds today when he declared that everyone was redeemed through Jesus, including atheists.

During his homily at Wednesday Mass in Rome, Francis emphasized the importance of "doing good" as a principle that unites all humanity, and a "culture of encounter" to support peace.

Using scripture from the Gospel of Mark, Francis explained how upset Jesus' disciples were that someone outside their group was doing good, according to a report from Vatican Radio.
“They complain,” the Pope said in his homily, because they say, “If he is not one of us, he cannot do good. If he is not of our party, he cannot do good.” And Jesus corrects them: “Do not hinder him, he says, let him do good.” The disciples, Pope Francis explains, “were a little intolerant,” closed off by the idea of possessing the truth, convinced that “those who do not have the truth, cannot do good.” “This was wrong . . . Jesus broadens the horizon.” Pope Francis said, “The root of this possibility of doing good – that we all have – is in creation”
"The Lord created us in His image and likeness, and we are the image of the Lord, and He does good and all of us have this commandment at heart: do good and do not do evil. All of us. ‘But, Father, this is not Catholic! He cannot do good.’ Yes, he can... "The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone!".. We must meet one another doing good. ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ But do good: we will meet one another there.”

These Jesuits out chea making Catholics mad once again :blessed:

Instead of incessantly posting negative generalizations about atheists, why don't you listen to the Bible and go do some good, friend. See you in the afterlife, friend. :lawd::blessed:

So basically what he's doing is reinterpreting the word so people feel more comfortable with the catholic church?

Nothing wrong with that, but now im looking forward to what will be reinterpreted next:ohhh:

I see him saying that promoting good deeds is a sly way of trying to clean up the Catholic Church image. Smooth move but he ain't saying shyt that we didn't already know. But at least he is trying I guess.

They idea that nothing came from nothing is a non starter for me.

Can't have creation without a creator.
Surely someone had to create this planet?

this is what i don't get. why does it have to be some ONE? take plants for instance. plants produce life, plants outnumber animals, but are plants someone???

But you believe that a 100+ old man gathered every animal in the world into a boat he built... Makes sense :lawd:

so the universe appeared from nothing?

Then how did nothing become something if no one created nothing out of nothing to make something?:mindblown:
