people act like a change to an actual native american name.... another issue.... would be really that bad

first off we still calling them indians.. knowing damn well they ain't from india and that's the whole reason the first settlers called them that

and we also acting like it'd be some huge travesty to change from red SKIN to braves or native or something... shyt you'd have to resell all that merch anyway.. probably make a billion dollars off a name change plus positive press

and it is the same thing cause the guy who made the redskins name in the first place was a known racist against native americans and blacks... but we not gone talk about that

in all honesty, this Sterling thing will put pressure on the NFL next time this debate comes up. And people will complain again about blacks getting a double standard

Again with that weak comparison? :aicmon:

It would be like a white man saying, ****** ain't a big deal. shyt was a derogatory term for indians.

Black people have had it easy as fukk compared to Native Americans, its just that they traded us instead of killing us, so that there are enough of us to boycott jerseys and seats and hence make a difference.

Edit:

However, an historical association between the use of "redskin" and the paying of bounties can be made. In 1863, a Winona, MN newspaper, the Daily Republican, printed among other announcements: "The state reward for dead Indians has been increased to $200 for every red-skin sent to Purgatory. This sum is more than the dead bodies of all the Indians east of the Red River are worth.

Redskins is akin to calling a team blackies.

No it isn't. There are some other Native American high schools with the same team name.
So are you trying to tell me that they named themselves after a racial slur? :comeon:

And as for the "controversy" about the name, only one tribe has made a big deal about it. All of the other tribes don't really care about this.

So you are telling me that they black people call each other a racial slur? The fact that ignorant youth refer to each other by a racial slur is meaningless to me. I say nikka, and i dont care if people say redskin, but I'm also not one of the sensitive bytches that cares if another rich old white man is racist.

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) rejected an application to register "Redskins Hog Rinds" because it "consists of or includes matter which may disparage or bring into contempt or disrepute persons, institutions, beliefs, or national symbols"

I wonder what they called black people when they put bounties on them, maybe we should name an NBA team after it

So to use your example, we know damn well that no black high school would name their team "nikkas".

That myth about "redskin" being used as a term for dead Indians or as a slur in general has been debunked.

There weren't enough of us killed for white people to change history that much.
