because it’s true? All he’s saying is that Em shows More respect etc to historical rappers (black MCs) than a lot of newer black MCs.

Elvis wasn't racist. He got his style because he grew up around black folk and mingled. However, he got all that "King" praise for being a white guy doing black things. That rightfully upset people. Now add 50/60/70 years to it, generations of people not knowing anything about him but still forced to know OF him, and you see how easy it is to get things skewed.
This isn't helped by the fact that while Elvis always gave black artists their flowers, his Estate does not. All of us only know Elvis via our parents memories and the actions of his Estate, and his Estate readily propogates the myth of him instead if the reality.
They could do wonders for his legacy by essentially re-telling his story, and his relationship with his black peers early on, genuinely. But they've already invested decades into this brand of white superiority.

He wasn't a racist himself for all we know but he benefitted from a racist system. If anything, he had an abusive ass manager that blocked him from accessing his money etc. Elvis was just the face of the operation, and got jerked pretty badly himself

I always thought that the beef with Elvis was that he got a lot of his success due to white privilege more so than him actually being racist himself.

yeah, he blew up more than his black counterparts simply because he was white and that rubbed a lotta of our people the wrong way. Not his fault. 100% Privilege.
Em is a perfect representation of Elvis more recently. Both talented in their own right, but grew up around and heavily influenced by black music and culture.

He may not have been racist, but he wasn't going to risk his position to stand up for blacks. He stayed silent on social issues and stole a lot of music from ppl. And was probably surrounded by racist.
