Chuck D Speaks on Elvis' Legacy

I’m sorry he didn’t necessarily apologize but changed his stance a bit

side bar

:wtf: why would chuck say that smh?
I think he looks at the new school (idk what year) and like wtf to shyt probably the likes of snap music, ringtone era or maybe even really gutta violent shyt like murder by ugk lol. Who knows, I’m just guessing why an 80s rapper would say that.

FACTS

1) elvis grew up along the dixie line as a poor southerner and spent most his youth among the pioneers

2) elvis willingly admitted in many interviews that colored people invented rock n roll as rnb and did it better

3) elvis never said the negroes can shine my shoes quote

4) even though Elvis constantly mentioned the coloreds when asked who his favorite artists were he would publically name whites who did pop

5) elvis was a nazi who had a huge collection of memorabilia

6) elvis was a pedophile who fcked tons of his teen girl groupies

7) when chuck D released fight the power 2020 last year he could have updated the elvis reference, he didnt

Elvis was a hero to most
But he never meant shyt to me you see
Straight up racist that sucker was, simple and plain
Motherfukk him and John Wayne

this is because both elvis and wayne were nazis. plenty of whites will give the melanated props but will end up siding with they own/the power structure

they aint shyt

yo I’m trippin with this video right now!

:ohhh:

No he wasn’t as far as I know, always gave the brothers who influenced him their flowers

Chuck D actually changed his stance on the lyrics from Fight The Power

No

his manager was tho

where'd that rumor even come from anyway?

This is an interesting thread. I legit just always assumed Elvis was a racist who didn't give a shyt about the Black community he had jacked his style from. Made me do a deeper dive.

Did Elvis Presley Really Say This About Black People? | Snopes.com

Looks like the accusations mostly came because:

1) He was a white boy from a notoriously racist part of Mississippi, so it was assumed he'd be racist

2) He was achieving far more fame than the Black performers he had learned his style (and often songs) from had ever achieved

He was the Eminem of the 1950s.

I'm actually surprised white people haven't completely stolen Hip-Hop like they did Rock & Roll.

Just a pedophile. No biggie

Post the receipts

History isn't over yet.

Doesn’t matter unless you’re holding on to some dream of racial solidarity. Who cares what he was or wasn’t?

what we know for sure is that because of white supremacy he was just another average ass whiteboy made into something much bigger than he really was.

Elvis owed his whole career to racism regardless of his personal feelings

He was a D+ artist living a A+ artist life because he was white

Chuck D said a lot of shyt man....because of personal shyt I can't get into I wouldn't take him and the things he said too seriously.....

Yup. I remember when VH1 counted down the top 100 Hip-Hop songs ever and they put Fight the Power at number 1. They interviewed Chuck D and he did walk back his Elvis comments a bit, and followed it up with "But the finger still goes up for John Wayne."
Yeah this is what I was remembering but I couldn’t find a clip. I knew he walked that back

Trailer opens with him getting inspired by the black church

Read a comment that some white people use to hate Elvis in the 50s because he was doing "devil/black" music :mjpls:
