Lol no this is absolutely wrong. You may get the type of body you feel is more aesthetic, may feel more fit but if you're talking about actual strength then weights > calisthenics. Calisthenics strength building is limited by the weight of your body and whatever marginal weights you can add to your frame, generally. You obviously can move more weight with barbell/dumbells/etc and therefore get stronger.

This isnt a knock on calisthenics at all, what you're saying is just wrong.

Where is this calisthenics vs weightlifting coming from. Both got there pro and cons. But lifting weights does make you stronger.

I disagree. I got stronger on bench from calisthenics a couple years ago. I was pushing 315 with no problem after years of only being able to max out with 315. I was legit doing 2-4 reps of 315 at the END of my sets. My gf thought I was a psycho seeing me workout in the gym.

What’s the proof
It’s easier to build muscle and strength. From just increasing the weight on a barbell, and doing simple movements most people can do. I love calisthenics, but most people can’t do the advance movements. That put on the most mass and strength. Most of the coli’s calisthenics dudes are just doing. High reps of body weight squats and push ups. High reps doesn’t build strength, it builds endurance. Most of y’all dudes, ain’t doing them advanced calisthenics moves. Plus most of them calisthenics dudes. Will tell you barbell squats will build more strength in you legs, then body weight squats.

I don’t know. But from personal experience, doing calisthenics only for some time and then adding weights after you’re ripped from calisthenics will have you on GOD mode. You’ll legit feel like a superhero.

The correct answer is and will always be do both.

Everyone knows weights make you stronger though.

No fukkery for me since I won't be engaging. :unimpressed:
OP is known troll who makes topics about close encounters with transformers. :dame:
OP is a skinny nikka that doesn't actually even lift. :stopitslime:

Why the hell should I care what a random coli cat that's weaker and less brolic than I am thinks about lifting weights?
:mjlol:
I only feel bad for the inexperienced dudes who'll read this and be like :ohhh: and bush weights for calisthenics. The same dumbass thread will get made around the time folks think they'll make a change and that 2023 will be the year they get in shape.
They won't. :francis:

Y'all have fun ITT, Imma go eat breakfast and then get ready to go to the gym.

Also a lot of your "people who lift heavy but cant do a pullup" guys are dudes who are heavy as fukk, 230+. If those dudes slimmed down to 190 theyd easily be able to do a decent amount of pullups.

I cant imagine someone who can lift heavy and is relatively slim but cant do a pullup

- getting started lifting is a lot easier than getting started with calisthenics

- progressive overlord in weights is easier than progressive overloading with body weight exercises(think pull ups or push ups with a weighted vest)

- a physique built from calisthenics stays around a lot longer than a physique built from weights

Not that i agree or disagree with the title but you arguments aren't good imo.

The first two points: learning to drive strictly by reading a book in braille is harder than learning to drive by actually driving a car on the road. Just because it's harder doesn't mean you will be a better driver in the end.

Your third point: the better physique is not necessarily the strongest.

Nah, the strength gained from calisthenics has a far lower ceiling than strength gained from weights. Calisthenic strength only takes you as far as your own bodyweight, and even then youll eventually hit a wall far as building lean mass pretty quickly. Calisthenics are a great complimentary thing for off days to help with stabilization, coordination, explosive movements, grip and endurance, but if were talking about sheer STRENGTH, nothing beats weights.

So basically it prove my point. People only do weights because it’s easier.
