Yes its important to white men. :scust:

I’ve never seen black men in leadership positions evaluate other men based on them being married. This is not to say that they don’t, but these are principles practiced by white men.

Promoted, no...that's silly. Make it to the executive team, it helps, but it's not necessary.

It's correlated, it's optics, and it's a psychological thing for some hiring managers, but it's literally discrimination if you didn't promote someone because they weren't married.

I know a few people that are executives, personally and through industry that aren't married, never been married, and don't have kids.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
An article using data from Switzerland and the study data concluded in 2017

Come on guise
That was a Swiss study. But same holds true in the US. Y’all think these dudes taking over but the guys at the top are still old white men with old fashioned values. Why the hell you think we all ain’t working from home even though it’s proven productivity goes up and it costs less?

In the United States, married men sit atop the wage ladder. At every age, they earn a significant premium over their bachelor counterparts. Some speculate that this is because marriage makes men more productive, while others point out that high-income earners are more attractive partners.Nov 15, 2021

The marital wage premium
The chart below shows the 2016 income of employed men and women with at least a high school diploma, by marital status. Single men, single women, and married women all earn about the same over their careers, but married men earn significantly more than all three groups, especially by middle age.

But it’s not. Show us the data
But it’s not. Show us the data

And I showed American data that says the same. shyt damn near worse
You showed data from a 7 year old pre-pandemic study. Are you saying that study absolutely applies in 2023?

But the question was not about who earned more. It was about will it limit you solely based on the decision makers perception. That study doesn’t prove that.

Brehs/Brehettes is this true when it comes to your career, and getting invited into important spaces with management, owners, etc. Has not being married stopped you from elevating in your career field?

I've heard this a thousand times, seems like folklore at this point, but I'm 50/50 on this :patrice:
Depends.

Age matters too. 22-year old breh...no one expects you to be settled down. 30? Maybe a girlfriend. Lotta people at work kept asking me when I was gonna marry Mrs. Mouzone.

Got promoted about three weeks after we sent out "save the date" fliers to my coworkers that were coming to the wedding. Maybe it was a coincidence because my boss had told me I was up for a promotion but.........

Hasn't kept me from being promoted...27 people report to me.

With that being said...this mainly applies to politics and brands that "family" oriented for top tier leadership positions where you are constantly seen.

Tim Scott and Lindsay Graham have been gay for years and had no issues becoming Senators
