Especially if your goal is just to lose weight.. plus there is different degrees of a bad diet.

The saying should be “you can out work a bad diet if you’re willing to work out 3 times as much as regular work outs “

Even if you look decent, healthy food will make your workouts more productive and you'll have more energy. Junk food will make you feel sluggish as hell.

You can have a “bad diet” and be in a calorie deficit

I can eat 1500 calories of fast food everyday. If I burn 2000 calories then I’m going to lose weight

now just think where he would be if he dropped the beers, and ate better. You can lose weight on a non optimal diet, but you're not going to meet your goals without the discipline of having a good diet.

This only applies to folks who don’t have :flabbynsick: metabolisms and actually put in work in the gym (so very few), and like others in here have said, it is not optimal and there may be deleterious health effects from having a poor diet.
