I do have a problem with the reciting of the box score here...QB's are judged most heavily by what they do down the stretch. 3 minutes left, in need of a FG, you gotta get the ball into range...like Brees was able to do. That's the crux of the "can't" win with Alex Smith argument.

the problem is a football game is 4 quarters, not just last drive. romo isnt a bum like his 4th quarter stats would indicate

I don't understand the comparison at all.

Both were criticized for their decision making, both were/are called noodle armed, both struggle on 1st teams but found success on 2nd teams.

But don't worry bout that no biggie..... We good fam..... Let's just worry about Green Bay

Of course it's 4 quarters long, but what you do in the 4th will always be more highly regarded than what you do in the first. And for good reason.

I know it is more highly regarded, but I disagree with how it is regarded so. you may fukk around while your D is keeping the offense in the game and have your last 7 pts of a 21 pt game in the 4th and youre still getting credit.

dont really see any difference between early game and late game, aside from storytelling narrative bullshyt like 'last second heroics, etc etc'

No there's a real difference, and it has to do with the time. A pick 6 on the first drive of the game can be atoned for, a pick 6 on the final drive can not.

Breh, there are no comparisons at all....maybe that Drew's arm was weaker but that's about it.

I see a problem with that line of thinking
so the only difference is basically 'cannot make a mistake' on final drive...but I consider any time of football game that you cannot make a mistake.

if you made a pick six mistake on fist drive, it still a -7 pts and a wasted drive.

Mistakes at the beginning of the game are easier to overcome than mistakes at the end. Luck had an entire 1/2 game to atone for his mistakes.

Nah breh, early in a game it's "should not" because although it's a negative, there's time to make up for that mistake (whether it's overcome by you, your defense, your special teams...whatever).

Late in the game it's "can not", because you don't have time to make up for that mistake.

I know you see this, you're just trying to carry on a narrative.

Do you think the down on which a mistake occurs is unimportant too? A drop on 1st, 2nd or 3rd down is all the same?
