For a time, my career was in non-profits.
Then a job I had in that career realized I'm the shyt and getting far ahead of what they could pay, so they fukk me over on what I had going AND laid me off. I had to get a job answering calls until I could shift my career to IT/Cybersecurity.

Jobs are critical to one's career but a job in and of itself isn't a career. There's difference.

Nah FOH, I have a career. I spent half my day either napping or shooting a basketball in a mini hoop. I was able to get to this point after working tons of jobs and having the experience and skill to start my career.

This is like that “the economy is actually bad” conversation but its coming from lower wage workers that are stuck in inherently precarious fields. My career has affords me a lot of opportunities and security. This is a personal problem.

Has worked as the breh that hands out building guest badges = a job that had no future; straight dead end

Has managed US employees (executives, lawyers and controllers) during international deployments = a career with clear professional next steps

Definitely a big difference, breh.

Nah bruh, I’ve had jobs and I’ve been in my current career for about 22 years now. I always had one foot out the door at these jobs, my career has been steady from beginning to end. There’s a clear difference.

OP I get where you coming from.

A Career is more of your profession but yes at the end of the day its still a job.

Also certain careers will feel more like jobs, (engineering, lawyer, tech, and doctors/nurses). Its just the nature of those professions because their task orientated, structured and most of the time they have a very real pay/job ceiling. Most these "jobs" will max out at about 250K a year.

But other jobs like being a politician, or business ect. are structured different and can take you alot further and require years of experience in a profession and aren't salary driven as much.
