do he consider chamllionaire or killer mike not southern rappers do to them being good lyricist
He was saying their beats dont qualify to be southern. its not a southern sound. to me, LB on the mic embodies southerness, what they talk about is true to where they from

im having a hard time articulating it right now but its like when you use "proper diction" people say you "talking white" :francis:

when a southern rapper can rap and got beats that arent heavy on 808s, hihats and snare rolls...:francis:

What about older southern Hip Hop?

They view Outkast as Southern and representative of Atlanta but not quite representative of "the streets". Kinda like the same way NYers view Mos Def va CamRon or Onyx
thats nikkas bringing "the streets" into the convo unnecessarily, everyone from ATL aint trappin and everyone from NYC aint livin the trife project life

ATLiens album was my introduction to Atlanta period, Streets/Burbs whatever. I thought that how everyone in Atlanta was giving it up when i heard that album. Bought it because elivators was on BET and i liked it.

I'm no expert in SOuthern Music but i would think when people mention the Southern Genre of Rap they mean artists like:

Outkast, Goodie Mob, UGK, Young Geezy, T.I., etc

The ones in red are the only ones i ever listened to personally. When it comes to rap barely 1or 2 artists/groups from "The South" make it into my top 10 favorites. I'm more of a The Roots, De La Soul, KRS-One, type of rap fan. To this day if i had to name a Young Geezy track to save my life i'm probably as good as dead and note I've lived in Miami and Atlanta the last 24 years of my life.

I actually liked Little Brother but is NC really considered Southern among americans?
Of course NC is the South lol. VA is too.

This is my first time hearing of LB and I'm from Atlanta and love Southern hip-hop. Everything from 90s - 2000s through 2010's.
:yeshrug:

Southern isn't just geography it's culture, accent; southern drawl etc

That's putting blacks in a box. Most Def and Talib Kweli are from wild Brooklyn. Just cause they don't act like it or brag about how wild their blocks are doesn't mean they aren't wild. They just aren't promoting that.

I never heard their music. I just know east people say their east sounding which they love. I never checked for them because it sounds like their imitating east coast from what I read.

Southern spitters are like Killa Kyleon,T- Rock,Doughbeezy,Z-RO, etc

Which reinforces the point ive made several times in the past. You can be from the hood or still live in the hood and not be "hood".

ANyway i was just offering my perspective on it. I can jam to Outkast any day. Jeezy and them other clones, tho... :scust: Too hood for me, i guess.
