Randomly popped into my Spotify.

Gad. Damn. This is some of the heaviest shyt I've ever heard. Reminds me of Mick Gordon's Doom soundtracks, but with a vocalist. The mix is immaculate.

Just ordered my first guitar brehs. Jackson king v :wow:. shyts inspired me
I bought myself an interface shortly before the first lockdown so I could use my laptop for amp simulation (for my bass primarily) but I still haven't used it yet 😓

Much of what I listen to has too many strings anyway

oh, I was going to post some 🇪🇺 things because it was Eurovision

okay so back to Sweden

I have deeply enjoyed Vildhjarta since the Omnislash days. I actually haven't listened to their most recent full album, Måsstaden under vatten, in its entirety, but their more recent work has been :jbhmm: idk what word to use. More disjointed than before but still :ohlawd:

(and I think they may be one of the reasons why the cool kids use whammy pedals now)

Also just found out:
Since 2025, no original members remain in the band, with the longest-running member being Calle Thomér since joining in 2009.
:dahell:

I never really got into the related band Humanity's Last Breath mainly because of the drums IIRC, but this guy's covers are straight :picard:

downpicking gawd

Now 🇮🇹

I came across this during lockdown and it had me :whew: , I still come back to it from time to time. Took them 5 years to record and... I get it lol. Reminds me of the Negativa EP. I found a remastered version in the Internet Archive but I haven't listened to it yet. Also a new album (buried in my Watch Later list :mjlol:)!

Also, Nero di Marte.

I started with their second album Derivae, but when I heard the first single from their third one, I knew I had to get it.

That album takes you places. And the title track :wow:

In this live video they play the second and first songs from the album, and it actually makes a lot of sense in this order.

Just stumbled on this band, listened to a few tracks, and it’s been a pleasant surprise. They’re basically the Gen z version of Lincoln Park/Korn.

Been listening to metal since the early 2000s. Not really into the hyper technical, proggy, guitar wankery category of stuff at all though, like a lot of what was posted here. To me most of those bands lack in the "sounding like a band" and making cohesive music department. :yeshrug:

New Teitanblood is the best extreme metal album of the year so far to me. Straight roughness and toughness lol

yoooo I love this album, one I come back to pretty frequently

their second album is almost too much :russ: but this one is just right 👌

IIRC the bassist plays entirely with his fingers which must have been pretty difficult on songs like Amnesia

I've also been listening to Catch Thirtythree a lot recently. I was aware of the three note motif woven through the album, but it's like the rhythms get more complex as you get towards the end.
