Dap fishing 101.

The only reason you notice more of the bad rappers is because of the Internet makes the barometer of entry into the music game easier.

Only a certain segment of rappers go platinum on albums today.

Singles are easier to go platinum

And platinum in 2018 =/= Platinum before 2014.

The reason it's easier to go platinum is because of streams being padded in with physical sales.
It ain’t easier to go plat. The artists that go play now, would go play then. Just like before only the most popular rappers go platinum.

Big Sean, Drake, Cole, Kendrick, Meek etc would all be platinum artists in the old industry’s

If anything it was easier to go plat back then.

I'll concede partially to that.

However, this is the issue of Blacks not controlling hip-hop. This could have been our trade. Like that Italians having control of the construction industry or Jews controlling the real estate game. I see what some of the old heads be saying now. When you have shyt like this in the OP it's off putting :scusthov: The labels have a goal of pushing ignorance to the Black/Latin youth (mainly Black).

Hip hop came from poetry and a beat was put to it. The fukk is a Bodak Yellow or whatever the fukk? "Jesus loves you :what:"

We never fully controlled Hip Hop.

Think about it. Before the internet, you couldn't easily distribute your own music.

Even with black owned labels like Def Jam, Laface, Bad Boy, and Death Row, who distributed the records? White owned entities like Warner, Universal, EMI, and Sony.

Independent labels started dying in the 1980s when Hip Hop was just getting started.

Yeah, I know we didn't, but I'm saying we could have. I remember cats like Jerry Heller were scheming some of the boys out of their money.

You weren't even around for the “days of real hip hop”, shyt your dumb ass down man.

Preach!!!

Hell I'm 42 and even I didn't witness real hip hop...which only truly occured with Herc...Bam and Flash in the mid 70s....

Rap records with barcodes on them was the beginning of the death of real hip hop
