To be fair, Brunson gave OG a pass right on the damned hands under the rim and OG fumbled the passed and lost the ball to Siakim (great defensive play by Siakim either way). I think the bigger problem was taking Mitch off the floor rather than putting Brunson in for Deuce. Mitch doesn't give half the space KAT does in drop coverage.
Man, don’t try and pass me the ball after ignoring me for 8 straight plays… We need to keep playing as a unit.

The trauma is generational

Neither of these teams have a shot vs OKC. Both very exploitable defensively
we facing the pacers and the Knicks played bad defense. I wonder if the plan was to out score the pacers and compromise on the defense. Them doing drop coverage in a series like this was a sign they thought the offense was going to get them the win.

It doesn't matter if the primary defender goes under on a switch, because the help defender is picking up the ball-handler. That's the whole reason switching defenses are great for stopping three-point shooters.

The Knicks played Boston by allowing the Celtics to attack the switch and living with the results inside the arc. That led to some foul trouble for KAT and Brunson throughout the series, but it slowed Boston's offense down and broke their rhythm. What the Pacers showed last night is that whether the Knicks are switching or hedging, a good offense will find ways to attack Brunson and KAT.

All of the breakdowns in the final minute, where Nesmith hit three consecutive threes, came from the players getting stuck on screens without the help defender switching or hedging. Two of those shots came with the primary defending falling from trying to go over the screen.

You're making my point though. Switching defenses are actually terrible for pick and pops. Celtics' gameplan to attack the Knicks switching was to attack KAT and Brunson (Because they are terrible help defenders) in pick and pop for a 3 pointer with Porzingis or Horford. Both of the Celtics' bigs were shooting terrible, it messed up the spacing, so the Knicks were able to make the Celtics shoot inside the arc. On top of that, because of the bad shooting, the Knicks were able to clog the paint

Can't do that with the Pacers because they attacked Brunson and KAT way more effectively than the Celtics did. The reason Nesmith got free with the Knicks fighting over screens is because Knicks were terrified of KAT or Brunson being abused in the pick and roll so they had to fight to go over screens
