A lot of their friendships are exclusively grounded in these upscale and expensive experiences so they have these forced bonds that result in them not actually liking the people they associate with.

They don’t have the capacity to just go to someone’s house and have a few drinks while doing ANYTHING, they have to get wasted because they can’t stand them. They cant just cook because the cost and prestige is more important. They can’t just pass the sticks on a video game and watch others play because their attention spans are too short.

Friendships based in aesthetics mean you have to pay to keep up the facade. They’ve seen a lot of their parents and siblings keep toxic friendships like this. Also they’ve learned poor financial skills.

Businesses latch onto that and provide experience at the expense of the quality of the actual food/drinks/product they offer and that just leads to more emptiness with them.

What are they supposed to find new friends that like simple things?
I dated a chick that had a friend group like that. They were the aesthetic chicks and every time they got together it was always this over the top experience. They would rent out venues for tea parties, or always have a booth at the club popping bottles, that type of timing. The few times I went it never seemed fun and it was forced. Maybe it was my upbringing because I was used to kickbacks, playing cards, dominoes, and games talking BS all night. So I was outta place especially when I went to the car to get the Bicycle cards and nobody wanted to play spades :scust:

Dog you hit it 1000% on the head. :ohlawd:

The bolded for emphasis. This one chick I know is obsessed with spending like it’s 20 or 25 years ago planning these trips and always wanting to be out on the scene. She’s one of those girls from the Lil’ Kim Foxy Brown era…

She has a good job, but the majority of her friends and peers aren’t able to be out and about like her

This new gen wishes they can ball out but you can tell how they live that the numbers just don’t line up.

And being grown, lazy, unproductive, still living at home yet blowing $$ on Scat Packs, bundles, Chrome Hearts, extendo lashes, Amiri, nails, trips to Costa Rica, Gucci accessories, iPhone 19 Pro Max 1TB and colorways Jordan never even wore isn’t a flex AT ALL.

The minority do this gen handling their business is too busy to stunt — or should I say upload the footage.

Those we're some of the best times I ever had.

Facts. I thought about it a few weeks ago.

Life really has been life’ing in my 30s. My 20s were so much different and so much more free time, random ass missions, and just relationships with people I don’t even know anymore today.

Low-key I prefer to have my peace and quiet these days and can appreciate the memories. I just wish we were able to create some more memories.

Egos is what ruined a lot of hanging out.
Kinda like how video games made realism and graphics more important than entertainment.

nikkas want every moment to be some big over the top experience and that's just not possible. Nothing wrong with a game night, or just smoking and drinking while some music plays. It's just that simple shyt don't impress ppl so they gotta do all that extravagant shyt.

You don't need to spend money to hang out with your friends. If you have a few dollars for something to drink you're good. Now if you're looking to keep up appearances, yes.

A lot of ya’ll posting in here are older and took this as an opportunity to shyt on my generation and I can tell. :to:

It ain’t really about trying to live above your means or being able to stunt on IG. Most people are off that these days anyway, IG doesn’t really mean much to most people in my age group (mid to late 20s/early 30s) anymore. TikTok is where it’s at now for my generation and “flexing” ain’t really part of that app’s culture like it was on IG.

It mostly has to do with the fact that many of us work several jobs and are just trying to survive. “Hustle culture” is real. :damn:

I’m fortunate enough to not be in that predicament, but I know plenty of people within my age range from all types of backgrounds that are.

Most of the people I know are working 2 jobs just to survive, and these are people WITH degrees. Some are even STEM, many are not making as much starting out as they believed that they would because Nap’s people will do it for less.

People without degrees are working 2 jobs and then doing Uber or GrubHub in their spare time. Also, throw in the fact that many of us had our early adulthoods interrupted by COVID and that set many of us back financially and in our careers.

So, it’s not even about the money per se, it’s about time and energy. You got guys working 60+ hours weekly, you think they’re trying to “hang out” when they could be sleeping?

Only guys that I know who are chilling right now are in the military. Those brehs are living it up and I sometimes kick it with them. :pachaha:
