If you dont like working from home you need to seriously take a look at your house. It’s probably boring to be in because you were never there. I transformed my home office into basically an executive suite. I got records, memorabilia, TV and games, food and drink, a couch, the whole 9 in here.

You cant just put a desk next to your bed and face a wall all day

It’s kinda hard to kiss ass over teams to people that would normally be in your building you are not aware of so I understand. Imagine randomly contacting somebody on teams asking about the blues games as an icebreaker.

why would you want to do any of that anyhow??
I think it’s your approach that is flawed not being remote.

Just be honest, no BS.
‘Hey I’m new, I would like to get to know more people in positions like yours so I know when to engage you or your team. Can we have a chat to go over a few things?’

That’s it!
Easier and you’ll have a more focused call anyhow.

Its hard to be dynamic when you’re a cog in a machine. If all you do is execute tasks how do you show leadership? Or pick up functions that aren’t necessarily in your silo?

Obviously this depends on what type of work you do. I just know I wouldn’t have the skills that I have if I didn’t ear hustle and sit in on meetings for things outside of my immediate assigned responsibility.

They're not wrong :francis:

The reality of the situation is that it is harder to train people remotely. Instead of getting them accustomed to the tasks develop useful soft skills, they get assigned what is repetitive.

I think a lot of people are speaking from the perspective of someone who is seasoned. If you know what you're doing and are comfortable in your role, you can do your day to day job remotely without a problem.

New recruits rely on shadowing.

Translation:

"How can I sexually harass my secretaries, feel empowered by micromanaging my peasants, and deliver my daily racial microagressions to my black employees when all you guys are working from home? :mjcry:"

These CEOs need to burn :pacspit:

Also, work from home is making it hard for Middle management to justify their existence :mjlol:
