I'll say this. Timbaland actually keeps up with the times. A lot of cats sit around and let it go by them, Timbaland ain't the type to do that.
Going back a few years, Timbaland has been talking about A.I, dropped the hardware to more focus on DAWs/software, doing Twitch when a bunch of older and even younger people didn't have any idea about using the platform, gave the youngsters interviews on Producergrind, etc.
At the end of the day, people who talk like Young Guru are the types to fade out, especially when they get hung up on ideals. The old days ain't coming back.
"I have followed as many versions of what AI could do for some years now. I remember being at MIT and students showing me a project where they were actively feeding a computer ‘All’ the jazz records that ever existed. So that AI could analyze and create music in any style of any musician.”
..
“I didn’t think we would get here this fast with the voice. Of course my mind goes to the ethical and legal aspects of what can be done with programs like Tacotron 2. You add that to the power of ChatGPT and you realize we are in a very groundbreaking but dangerous moment. It’s not the tech, it’s the evil that men do with the tech.”
How much you want to bet dude thought it was wack and a non-threat back then? Basically like every single other person who thought A.I was decades away. However, cats who low key been following A.I putting it to great use in their fields.
That's the difference right there. If you've done the necessary preparations like Timbaland has and saw how much potential there was, then you deserve to get ahead. It may not have to be straight up 16 bars of an A.I artist, but like some adlibs or drops with some FX would be heat if done right. There's creative ways to do it rather than closing the door.
