I don't like how Biggie was spitting some wack rhymes possibly written by someone in Tim's camp. Otherwise, I don't see how this is different from when people profited off Biggie and Pac blends. You had material that featured them on songs with artists they were beefing with and even whole tapes of them on songs with each other when the world knew they died before squashing the beef.

Timbaland and Swizz are two fukking sharks willing to sell out everything while talking "culture this the culture that"

When they've sold everything out and the funds run low they'll be crying about "this is our culture what happened :sadcam: "

The vocals were them, but it was them over beats that they had no hand in picking and artists they never met or actually liked.

LOL. A blend nor an A.I. is a real song though. It's something created out of the imagination of people who want to create their own versions of "what if" type songs. The only real difference is with A.I., you're pairing someone else's lyrics with someone else's voice. With blends, you could literally create a posse cut of Biggie, Jay Z, Scarface, Nas, and Pac over a DJ Premier beat. Fake song, but it didn't stop people from doing it or even profiting off of it.

Yes, the vocals and bars are real, but the integrity nor the soul is real. No different than A.I. and both were made possible using technology to cut and paste parts of songs to create something NONE of the artists involved in the creation of the original even sanctioned.

The difference is that you can make someone say ANYTHING and it actually sounds real. I see where you’re coming from but it’s actually much worse than blends of real vocals where at least the artist actually said those things themselves

For example, you can make song with 2Pac spitting horrorcore pedo bars or Public Enemy rapping about gay pride and white Jesus. It’s basically audio deepfaking whereas blends are moreso copy/pasting actual material and combining it with something else.

Guru's 100% correct... The implications of where IP law and AI music will intersect are terrible for everyone except major labels (and their counterparts) and groups/individuals who've been buying up catalog rights. In a year or two I'm not gonna be surprised if it's impossible for an independent artist to sign any contract with any distributor or publisher without being strong armed into giving up AI-sampling rights.

As far as record labels go, forget it... Possibly the single worst quality of AI is that, unlike in real-life, the vocalist sampled by the AI model does not have to have the same range as the original recording, it simply has to model the range of the original recording. In other words, an unknown artist could have the vocal range of Ella Fitzgerald and, if their recording captured that, an AI model can hit those exact notes but now it's the bigger artist's song, note for note. No pitch or arrangement change necessary. "ghost-singing" is about to be the new normal:scust:

Also, in general, this means artists moving forward will need to be far more cautious about recording studios they deal with (if they're not already home-recording)... Your unguarded acapella stems are fair game to be AI-modeled and shopped around as demo material to labels (and it won't even sound like you):francis: Having proof that will stand up in a court of law that a song was originally yours will boil down to whether you performed it live in front of a big enough crowd that enough people know it to be your song.

shyt is beyond spooky

If we really wanna get spooky....yall see all of these viral tweets right now where someone asks women to post a pic of them when they were 19, when their boobs looked nice, when their side profile looked nice etc etc etc and then chicks start posting pics? It's really looking like they out here mining pictures for AI databases.
:francis:

Extra layer of spooky: everything ever done online can be used for that, as it is all data. We been feeding these databases since the inception of the internet.
