From what I understand he was signed to 300 before signing to Gucci. They just gave him hella money (at the time, anyways) upfront, I remember reading something like 50,000.

Thug is one of the only artists right now that I wonder what he is going to do next music wise. That combined with the image he projects to the world puts him in his own lane. I don't get how people get so mad and say "but hes gay, sucks, etc." Those exact emotional responses are probably part of the reason Thug created his image in the first place. He is challenging peoples beliefs and ideals in a similar way that Donald Trump is doing in the presidential election. Yea you might not like either one of them, but you can't deny their presence. From a marketing standpoint the the whole Young Thug concept is genius. I just hope he actually gets to release HiTunes in the proper form. It seems from that interview that there is still a holdup. "Best Friend" did over 60 million views on youtube without regular radio spins. I don't know what 300 is waiting for. They obviously worked Fetty Wap to radio so I don't understand the holdup with Thug.

The character or concept you speak of does exactly what its meant to do in a buzzfeed, click bait, social media infested world that surrounds music today. As soon as he calls so and so "Bae" he's front page of all the major blogs, hip hop sites, etc etc...

A lot of fans don't understand show business. They get caught up in the emotional roller coaster of being a fanatic. Jeff has to sell his image (like every other mainstream artist in the music business) which is the conduit to his music (which is really amazing)

The game has changed so much for the worst. I remember when the top rappers had a certain dignity to them. It's like comparing apples and oranges really. Hendrix was a virtuoso on the guitar. No one could touch him then or since. Prince is a musical genius. That doesn't mean I cosign the sexual ambiguous look or vibe that Prince put out there though. What does Young Thug do that is on the level of those two musically or lyrically? What does he talk about besides glorifying a nihilistic/destructive lifestyle? I don't even hate the dude's music really.
