I find the opposite to be true. A lot of men know they're a beta. But who wants to admit they're a beta? No one. So they'll say the alpha/beta dynamic isn't real to make themselves feel better. It's very much binary. Either you're sexually attractive to a woman (alpha) or you're someone she sees for a stable husband provider role (beta). The more great you are on paper (how much you make generally), the more she'll overlook how sexually unattractive you are to her. But all you'll really have with her is a boring marriage, a shiity sex life and a fussy nitpicky wife because she was never attracted to this 5"8 out of shape beta whereas if she was married to the alpha she wanted, he would be getting sex every night, she would be giving him her 100% all day every day and she'd do anything to please dude because he's the man she really wanted and she'd want to make sure he didn't leave her for another woman.
