Your reaction when you first heard "The Doggfather"

The Doggfather - Released on November 12, 1995

I remember feeling this album was terrible when it came out. You had the crowd that would say "it's not that bad, it just isn't a classic like Doggystyle" years later, but I still feel the same way today.

I decided to give this album another listen recently. I know Snoop had a lot going on at the time. The whole album sounds like he phoned it in. You can tell listening to it he wasn't into this shyt at all.

my first reaction was this and then followed by

that album was a huge let down because before that everything snoop touched turned to gold.

doggystyle a classic, the murder was the case soundtrack was solid , his features on dogg food were on point, his guest spot on the above the rim soundtrack was nice etc

that album was just a huge let down but without dr. dre he didn't have that guidance he needed to make another classic album

this was his last album on Deathrow and Dre didnt provide the heat that we were all accustom to hearing........I thought his version of "Vapors" was alright but the album was sub par.........

Yeah he was whispering throughout the entire album. "Freestyle Conversation" is absolutely awful & a clear example of what your talking about.

I wonder if it would have been less of a let down to folks if the internet existed then, as it does now. That way people woulda known Dre wasn't on it. Me and my homies knew Dre left the label but had no idea the album wouldn't have any Dre beats. I remember us sitting around drinking Capri Sun...

at the time the general perception was it was wack, i didnt cop it cuz it was makaveli season

i ended up grabbing it 3 years later when i was in high school...was pleasantly surprised

today i consider it a good album, it had alot of great songs, some classics....

unfortunately the combination of pac, no dre and too much filler ruined the album

this was the beginning of snoop dropping albums full of 20 songs which is never a good idea
