Mainly because after the hype of Doggystyle and having it deliver the bar was SUPER high for Snoop. That just was tough album to follow up on

I still bump Snoops Upside Your Head. Good energy on that track. I do suspect he was sneak dissing Pac on it though.

Haven't listened to it since I was about 13, but I remember it being absolutely horrible. Worst album I ever bought in fact. And i'm a guy with Big Shug in his collection.

I hated Snoops Upside Ya Head but I got the album becuz Deathrow was my shyt and Doggystyle was classic. I remember listening to this album over and over in the summer of 97. This dropped in Nov 96 btw OP has Nov 95. But I jammed this album back to back to back during the summer playing video games and smoking with my homeboy.

Gold Rush, Freestyle Session, Downtown Assassins, You Thought and (O.J.) Wake Up are my favorite tracks on the album. But there still are some hidden gems like 2001, Sixx Minutes, Snoop Bounce, Doggfather, Doggyland and Blueberry. Obviously Snoop was in a different place during the making of this album becuz of the murder trial and the gratefulness he had for beating the case.

Probably the worst sophomore album of all time. The thing is, he recorded some classic songs that didn't make the cut on the album which would have saved it by miles.
I think he purposefully sabotaged the album to get off of Death Row.

Thats the problem with it, had they arranged the tracklisting differently this couldve been classic.
He recorded songs like May I, Midnite Love, Street Life etc. for it, had they used them instead of wack shyt like Freestyle Conversation (dafuq was this shyt :mindblown:) the album wouldve been :banderas:
There were a couple great songs on it nonetheless, like 2001, Snoops Upside Ya Head, Up Jump The Boogie, Downtown Assassins etc.

I still remember the day I bought this.....I kept playing "blueberry" over and over again...like 100 times. The rest of the album is pretty much worthless

edit: I just went to youtube so I could bump this cut again and remembered that Snoop isnt even on this song :russ::russ::russ:

Put it in and I felt disappointed as shyt...
I mean Snoop made a song about his pitbulls...

I felt cheated...
I knew Snoop would never make another classic again...

I kept trying to like this album so many times over the years but....its really not a good album....luckily 92.3 the beat would play UNreleased tracks all the time and then Theo would tell us the next day about a cease and desist letter from interscope but youd be thinking well he must be coming out with some heat...because Midnight Love was heavy in the rotation in 97-98
