Black people, particularly Black Americans, are raised to identify with the low social position assigned to them by the white supremacist status quo.

It's really sad to witness. I feel like an alien sometimes because I wasn't raised to internalize the myth of white supremacy. I was raise to believe that I'm better.

Honestly, this mindset we're discussing is poison.

I agree.

Well you're right, people do try to deny your "blackness" based on their stupid ass opinions but it feels like you added the bolded just to stretch the list out.

:laff: @ Someone gettin their black card pulled for criticizing Mayweather tho.
I'm happy to hear that some of this may be outdated. And you're right, that Mayweather-shyt may be some coli-exclusive shyt. But given the sentiment of black pride that surrounds Mayweather as the most successful fighter of our generation, it wouldn't shock me if black folk offline question those other black folk who may root against Mayweather. After all, it's been seen before: see Ali, Muhammad.

:heh: I think everybody did what people do when there's bullet points: glanced over the bullet points....

and then got offended, thinking you were doing the exact same thing you're talking about others doing.
I sure hope so because I'm seriously perplexed by some of the responses I'm getting. Breh accused me of not understanding what it means to be black. :dead:

but really, it's all just insecurity and uncomfortableness with something that doesn't fit their rationale, breh.

People feel inferior and then project it on you because the best defense is a good offense.

They think you're looking down on them for the things they do because they've been taught that their way is inferior, so they attack you first to feel better about themselves. If you crack, it's a huge self esteem boost for them. Especially if other people see it.

Like No Bammer Weed said, simple psychological trick.

It's like seeing a woman who holds her head high and her back straight, who doesn't go clubbing, doesn't gossip and keeps her Cato's clothes color coordinated and accessorized.

Dumb bytches will call her bourgeois without even knowing her.

To flesh this out even further, because whites have made entry into stable upper middle class lifestyles so difficult for black people as a whole, while simultaneously pushing us to the margins, an obvious dysfunction has set in. Its basic psychology --- if someone or some group aggressively insults you or bars your entry into their desirable world, you are going to grow to resent that person or group. Because mainstream life is associated with being white, blacks have loudly rejected such a world largely out of hurt and frustration. Over time, as blacks have discovered more personal success as a group, these dysfunctions have subsided, but we cant divorce those constructions from the mistreatment of the dominant class.

This makes sense to me.

But why can't we just recognize that it is detrimental and destructive to divide ourselves in this way so we should change how we think about and treat each other? I believe racist whites may have started this movement to divide us so that we could be easier to control and influence. If that is so, why do we perpetuate this?

If you don't know the feeling of being Brody in Homeland..then you aren't Black. As corny as it sounds that line pretty much sums up how being Black in America feels. If you can't relate, then you are not Black in the social sense of it. But other than if you are a straight up sell out on Hannity or Fox News...lol well..lol
I can dig it. Here's the thing, though: just about every black person I know is proud to be black. So, it's a huge insult for your own brothers and sisters to suggest that you are not black or not black enough just because you don't fit neatly in their box of blackness. This shyt can be very destructive and divisive.

Can tell you know nothing about us but our stereotypes. SMH

What would the outcome be if blacks were to judge your people the same way
You already do numbskull and I see you generalising white people like crazy.

I've been here more than 6 months, do you think I'm blind? This is enough insight, on top of that, you have no idea if I have been to america, so close your snout.

I agree it can be destructive and divisive but when you have sell outs like Clarence Thomas who actively try to set back gains the community fought hard for, you have no choice but to pull their blackness away. lol fukking Clarence Thomas.....(I'm getting mad even thinking about it) lol
