He's obviously saying 'watchu tryna kick knowledge' as in the conscious shyt Nas was spitting was not knowledge.

Jay was just trying to appeal to the negative sensibility of black people that being smart is nerdy or weird. The ironic thing is that "trying to kick knowledge" was what Nas was moving away from, and his fans were pissed. The better angle for Jay to take, and one he flirted with but didnt commit to, was the fact that Nas had abandoned his deeper lyrical focus and was trying to keep up with the crowd by refashioning himself as a playboy/mafioso MC to awful results. Nas was completely playing himself, and after the beef he went back to his original style that made him world famous thanks to Mr. "Che Guevera with Bling on"

I think it was just a dumb ass line that Jay wrote to try to be cool and thoughtful at the same time, and ended up making an ass out of himself. People try to claim that Nas is a dumb smart nikka, but hes never written anything as embarrassing as that. Not even close.

I seriously doubt it, most people think it's poking fun at "preachy" Nas which was one of Jay's most used "weapons" during the beef. I don't know why a line that makes sense would be something different just in one particular case of like 5. You can't possibly be naive enough to try and act like a straight shot is something else during beef between master lyricists. Are you telling me the BP2 line is just something stupid and not meant as a Nas diss as well?

Btw I think he's referencing songs like these, since he called I Am and Nastradamous garbage in the same song. There's an enormous difference between street poet Nas and preachy Nas.
