YouTube disables dislikes on videos being displayed publicly

Honestly, I'd like to know how many times I've hit the dislike button on my YouTube account. I know I have, but it's very far and between. Usually, if I see a video from creators I can't stand or don't care for (Logan Paul), I find the "Don't Show Me This Again" button and that takes care of that. It was amusing to see the LIKE/DISLIKE ratio on videos though.

Do you remember the comments on Yahoo news? It was so racist that me commenting on sports got me tons of abuse, based on my avatar.

People forget how bad and unregulated Yahoo comments were for years until they finally stepped in to nuke comments all together. It didn't matter what the subject of the article was, it was racist and political comments galore.

A lot of people are followers, so I could see if a video has a bunch of dislikes, everyone else who comes across said video would just follow suit. They should just make it so you can’t see the like/dislike ratio until after you’ve made your choice.

This is incredibly stupid move that once again shows that social media platforms give no fukk about creating easier user experience.

Dislikes were the best indication to show which tutorial videos were worth your time or not. Millions of people watch tutorials on youtube every day. Imagine if some popular channel made a wrong tutorial vid which might result in people injuring themselves, but since there is no dislike button and views are growing, seems like a trustworthy vid to some.


This is basically a lazy attempt to hide the fact that many of the most popular youtubers are making shytty content. They complained about dislikes and youtube removed them. The age of mediocrity. Instead of improving something, you'll just silence criticism.
