The difference is Noel was playing for a bigger contract and he probably knew whatever he did he wasn't starting over Adams or eating his minutes, so he hunted for easy blocks and steals to. If he didn't it would be financially negligent. When Adams was injured and Noel was the starter he averaged >30 minutes. Even when he was a starter before Embiid, he averaged 30+ MPG. All this suggests he does know how to stay on the court.

Watching Mitch last season looked like he was just following his instincts for good or for bad.

I think the gap in defensive IQ is definitely clear. But I also think that Mitch being here allows Noel to play the aggressive brand that Adams afforded him. So while Noel can give you a 30 mpg type discipline, he's got another C to split time with. That should mean he can challenge everything at the rim.

The only player on this team that I've ever actually seen try to actually run a half court set is Frank Ntlikina, but no one considers him a PG either so :yeshrug:

Well I don’t think they will ever give him a chance so DSJ is the preference over elfrid
