thats an iphone 6 plus :usure:

:mjlol: No shyt sherlock! The article clearly indicates it was an iPhone 6+ model that exploded. Nevertheless, it's still a major story being reported worldwide & it's also one of the many Apple products which continue to detonate on a regular basis year in & year out.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus Explodes in the Middle of the Night While Charging

Apple already investigating the explosion
Oct 7, 2016 11:23 GMT By Bogdan Popa

An iPhone 6 Plus owned by a woman living in Fresno, California, exploded in the middle of the night while charging, causing damages to the objects and furniture in its proximity.

Yvette Estrada explained in an interview for ABC that her iPhone was charging on the dresser and then all of a sudden it emitted a flash, followed by flames and smoke.

“I heard a sizzling, then we heard the pop and the whole fire was coming out of the screen,” she said, explaining that her husband woke up and quickly threw it in the sink to put water on it.

Apple already offered an iPhone 6 Plus in return
The woman called 911, but by the time firefighters arrived at the scene, the phone was already melted in the sink. The explosion caused damages to the surrounding objects, which included a pair of glasses, two Apple Watch stands, and the furniture.

“What if this would have been underneath my pillow or if I was on the phone? My face would be burned. Hopefully they can fix this and they can compensate my new phone or do something for me because they have to do right,” Estrada said.

Apple is already investigating the explosion, and in the meantime, the company has offered the woman
a new stand for her Apple Watch (the woman actually had 2 Apple Watch stands), a charger, and an iPhone 6 Plus.

Estrada said that Apple told her that if she wanted an iPhone 7, she had to pay for an upgrade. :lolbron:

As for the causes of the explosion, nothing is known at this point, and a faulty battery cannot be blamed just yet. The iPhone 6 Plus was the model that suffered from bendgate, as the device bent under strong pressure, causing internal damage to various components, including the screen and potentially the battery.

If this is the case, then the iPhone 6 Plus wasn’t equipped with a defective battery, and probably caught fire after getting bent. Without a doubt, the investigation will determine the exact causes of the explosion, as the firefighters only explained that the phone “was faulty.”

Another iPhone bursts into flames, sending the owner to the ER

Thanks to Samsung’s exploding Galaxy Note 7 smartphone that forced the giant South Korean company to recall the handset just weeks after it went on sale, we’re all more aware than ever that smartphone batteries can explode. There are plenty of reasons why it happens. In the case of the Galaxy Note 7, a manufacturing flaw was responsible. Battery age and physical damage can also result in batteries blowing up and phones catching fire.

The iPhone isn’t spared either. In a matter of days, we saw an iPhone 7 explode, an iPhone 7 Plus’s battery bulge up without causing a fire, and an iPhone 6 Plus going up in flames during class. Now, it’s an iPhone 6s that has exploded.

A reader told Phone Arena that he was out with some friends when all of a sudden his iPhone 6s caught on fire. The phone was sitting in his back pocket, burned through his jeans and caused second-degree burns on the left side of his body and on his left index finger.

The person was treated in the emergency room, according to his claims. The iPhone apparently exploded after business hours, so he contacted Apple about it the next day. He is hoping that Apple replaces his phone, Phone Arena says.

The blurry image above shows the remains of the handset. The iPhone appears to be torn apart, but that’s about everything one can say about it since it’s completely unclear from the photo what happened to the phone. It’s also unclear what caused the explosion at this time. An investigation will surely follow, as Apple will want to know why the phone allegedly exploded.
