He went up against the greatest defense of all time in that super bowl. Why did you leave that part out? They had no business making it that far. Sean Payton play calling, kept defenses off balance. Bum ass Kerry Collins finished 6th in passing yds

Brees was solid. But Brees was nowhere near what Payton turned him into

You can say we haven't seen him do a reclamation. But we've seen him elevate qbs. You need a damn good qb in the afc west. Payton will find one

He better not let his nut-ass obsession with "Random #s" get the best of him again. :mjlol:

fukk around and bring in Easton Stick :laff:

Those were his "projects", tho. :pachaha: :jordanfacepalm:

Sidenote: He definitely deserves credit for Brees and discovering Romo, and he also knew Mahomes was gonna be special.

If only he had the chance to draft him, he would still be here. :mjcry:

Instead, he bounced  AND recommended that STINKY replace him :scust: @King Poetic

"Fat Andy" undercutting him :pacspit: @Chip Skylark @kdslittlebro and the dumbass BiLLs accepting that trade from the Chiefs :pacspit: @DrexlersFade

Romo has had four seasons of 30+ tds... How many qbs over last twenty years can say this?

I think his point was that Kerry Collins was at his best under Payton, which is a valid statement

Brees was solid and the injury scared teams away, but he wasn't thought of a long term franchise guy... and he became a first ballot HoF under Payton.

I say we shouldn't take away form things Payton have done right, not like there isnt enough things he has done wrong.

I still don't get how Zach Wilson's style fits his offense because it seems like it's completely the opposite of what he wants tho

Kerry still wasn't good under Payton and that's reflected in a low completion % and poor TD:INT. The Giants were just a good a team.

Drew Brees is not Zach Wilson. He was already good in SD he just wasn't healthy. Yes, Payton helped him but stop acting like he can QB whisper anyone into being good. People said that about Daboll and did he turn Daniel Jones into Josh Allen?

If he wanted Zach Wilson he could've gotten him at point. The Jets weren't bringing him back. Every team passed on him and now 3 days before the draft Denver gets him for a bag of chips and y'all think it's a glowing endorsement:why:

Denver has no second round pick. Most likely they'll need to trade out of pick 12 to get more picks and back into the second round. There's no guarantees they will be able to that AND get a QB. Zach is just insurance. If they land Penix or Nix then where do you think that leaves Zach? He's not who they wanted. They have no intentions on starting him.

That has zero to do with Zach Wilson.

Denver is not going into the draft content with their QB room. They're trying to get in position for a QB not rebuild a bust.

Collins took a significant leap in production and wins - when Payton became his OC. Do you remember Collins from the Panthers? 11tds, 21ints, 2000yds, completion 52%.. Payton turned him into a winner..Throwing 4000yds, completion 62%. Went from Journeyman, half out the league, to a super bowl.. Drew Brees also took a significant leap. Production sky rocket, plus a super bowl champion.

Payton significantly elevated both quarterbacks

I'm far from sayin Wilson can be the guy. Im sayin Payton knows what he's doing

have you actually read my post ?
I said Kerry Collins was at his best on the Giants - yes, his best wasnt very good, but thats a fact.

No one said Drew Brees is Zach Wilson :dahell:
Also - a nitpick that it wasnt JUST the injury for Drew in SD either, teams dont replace franchise QBs like they have done with drafting Eli (and then getting Rivers) and letting Brees go.

I dont think anyone said that Payton can QB whisper anyone into being good. Literally no coach in football has done that because coaches can only do so much. Bill Walsh, Andy Reid, whichever offensive geniuses you'll find....there are always a lot of QBs who they couldnt whisper at all. Or failed at.

I agree with you about Zach Wilson. And I've been pretty anti-payton for a lot of time now.

All I've said is that its silly to dismiss the things he HAS done and should take some credit for.

I don’t think a single throw has ever built an NFL career more than this one.

That said, this was actually a dime.

A better arm doesn't equate to a better talent tho. I think that's shy dudes are giving you the side-eye on your comment.

I agree. I said as much. Despite his talent, he's not played the QB position well (I also don't think the Jets set him up for success).

Zach can make plenty of highlight reel throws but he struggled with the layups too much, and the layups are what keep drives alive/manageable more than anything.

He'll likely never start again, but he'll make good money as a backup solely because there are throws he can make that a lot of other people can't make. If Tua goes down again, and Zach goes out there and ends up going gangbusters -- as Miami is BY FAR the best offense he's played on -- he'll stay gainfully employed.
