Russia has over 200,000 dead and Ukraine has over a 140,000 dead. Nothing light on either side. If it wasn’t for US intelligence and $, Ukraine would be wiped off the map by now.

I’m not against helping Ukraine at all. We should be funding them against Russia, but to what extent and what cost is the question?

Probably. There's been a draft for every world war. Then again, assuming it essentially boils down to Russia vs NATO, perhaps a draft wouldn't be needed. Russia can't compete with the Ukraine army, imagine how they fare against the US and allies. Nukes also come into play at that point so maybe none of it matters lol. Point being, the best way to avoid that situation is to contain Russia within Ukraine, ensure they lose, and hope Putin dies or gets toppled.

Geopolitics is always a hilarious conversation on this site.

I mean frankly let’s assume in an alternate universe the United States did not interfere with Russia’s invasion.

Do you believe Russia would have simply stopped at Ukraine or continued its quest to reestablish the Soviet Union?

If you assume the former, you’re simply wrong. If you assume the latter, what do you think the implications would for the US? Many of the former Soviet territories and satellite states serve as a land masses between Russia and the US’s western allies.

Additionally, what are the implications as it relates to China? Would inaction by the US embolden China to take more aggressive measures with Taiwan?

How do both of these events impact the global economy? Higher prices on commodities and trade disputes impact people’s daily lives.

Ultimately, the American government doesn’t really care about Ukraine as an entity, it cares about limiting the Russian sphere of influence and revenge for election interference.

I’m not even necessarily taking a side on the topic but I think these topics are rarely evaluated with nuance by a lot of people on this site.
