what happens is that in seattle plays cover 3 and if sherm is matched up on a bum, the safeties can cheat towards the other side of the field
the reason why earl thomas is so good is that he has both the iq and speed to help out both corners on long-developing plays
broncos overload strong here. doesnt really help them thoDT actually gets a tiny bit of separation from sherm but earl thomas who first step is cheating towards the strong side has great speed and chases it down. a better throw from peyton would prolly be at least catchable but still its a good example of how hags are comfortable leaving sherman with less help

I'm almost absolutely sure that even though Sherm isn't the best CB in the game he's the most "effective". Dude done put his mark on the league and on opposing offenses. Not only does he have good numbers, he's shown he can show up in the big games in the big moments.
Couple that with the trash talk and you have a CB that most offenses don't even really want to deal with. Its not about him covering your best wide out....it's about him disrupting your entire offence with that riff-raff and making players say/do stupid shyt or play outside of themselves to prove a point i.e. Kap/Crabtree

If I play seattle I know what I'm doing is putting my best wr away from sherman. Secound best in the slot. And let him bullshyt around with the 3rd and 4th wr all game. Which is what he does. So he going to dominate the on lower caliber wrs. Don't get me wrong he is really good corner, but that how you would attack any number 1 corner who is stationary.
