But the break down of the black family and its results on the streets is exactly why the music is the way it is. If Chicago was like Salt Lake City the music would be completely different. The only solution to this problem is to fix the black family but how does that happen? We can say unemployment is an issue but that ALWAYS been an issue for black people. There is no family unit and that's been happening for decades. Hip hop is a product of the environment and that's the reason it even exists in the first place

Hiphop is somewhat a product of its environment, maybe more Chicago than other areas. I feel like it's a caricature of itself now, like a really bad exaggerated version of what it claims is it's environment. But that's another discussion.

But how do you fix the family unit? How do you fix the gang issue? I try not to be so narrow and base it all off my experience but you can tell people until you're blue in the face how to use birth control, hand out birth control, but many unfortunately don't heed warnings. You can try to involve the parents but if they don't care what can you do? How do you teach a kid to value themselves and want better? I feel like unemployment and lack of resources is a major factor. No jobs brings about crime. Crime brings about prison time and death.

It's fukked up but I wouldn't even sit here and lie and be like it was more than what it was because I barely knew him. I was just sayin it to say that the shyt even carried over into areas that aren't usually violent at all.

There no quick fix and the best bet for most nikkas out here is to keep their nose clean and stay out of bullshyt / away from nikkas that be on bullshyt.

The randoms gettin hit isn't as prevalent as its made out to be compared to all of the other shootings that's why it's always a big deal when it does happen. It still happens way too much, nobody is gonna argue that but most of the time it's cats that's into the shyt either directly or indirectly thru somebody else. Growin up, seein and know too many brothers who didn't make it to see today all I can say is a lot of them was about that life and it caught up to em. We live in a land were nikkas ain't givin no passes, it is what it is

One of my guys I grew up with that's was like my brother rip, lived all his life fukkin around heavy in leclaire courts before they got shut down only to go out in hillbilly land Iowa and get murdered outside a laundry mat

Chicago North Side is safe until you start getting too North like Rogers Park. Or the Puerto Rican hoods like Humboldt, but even that is in the early/mid stages of gentrification.

These numbers always sound astronomical to me and its heartbreaking. I just never feel the impact of all this violence. Chicagoans truly stay in their corner of the city. Meaning, stay out the south and west sides plus a few North side neighborhoods and you're good. These gangsters don't travel.

I say all that to say, Chicago is awesome. Its truly one of the best cities in America and I hate the violence and weather scare folks from coming here. There really is no place like Summertime Chi North.
